Kim Todd, the president of Canada-based Original Pictures, has confirmed that the youth drama Falcon Beach has been cancelled after two seasons. The series airs on ABC Family in the U.S. and Global in Canada.
The cancellation comes as a result of ABC Family’s decision to pass on a third season of Beach. Without the financial support of the cable channel, continued production isn’t possible. Todd says that Global offered to pick it up for a third season but at a significantly lower cost than before.
Strangely enough, Beach is being cancelled despite being quite popular. The show’s audience is made up of predominantly 12 to 17 year old girls. Unfortunately, the series failed to attract many outside of that age group and ABC Family wanted a broader demographic; i.e. 18 to 49 viewers.
The cancellation wasn’t a shocker to Todd who said, “You’re never surprised by what happens in series television, because the winds of change blow quickly and forcefully.” That doesn’t make the end result any easier, personally or professionally. Todd lamented, “So nothing is surprising, but it’s still extremely disappointing. In order to produce a television series, you have to invest so much of yourself into the process… And now we have to tell the cast and crew, and that’s disappointing, too, because we’re not the only ones who put their blood and sweat into this.”
Many citizens of the shoreside Lake Winnipeg town will miss Beach as well because it provided great exposure for the town and attracted visitors — from as far away as Japan. The town’s local mayor and restaurant owner Daryl Carry was told of the cancellation on Friday and said, “We’ve had tourists here every summer, coming to see where Falcon Beach is shot… But I guess at the end of the day, it didn’t add up. The money offered isn’t enough. They had to make a decision to pull the plug.”
The second and final season has already aired on Global in Canada. In the U.S., Falcon Beach began airing on ABC Family on April 9th and is expected to conclude on July 2nd. No plans have been released to tie up any ongoing storylines. Stay tuned!

this is bull crap….falcon beach is an extremely awesome show that shouldnt be cancelled!! Each summer I look forward to watching it and to find out that abc family cancelled it..pisses me off! abc family is always cancelling the good shows juz to keep the stupid reality shows…
Please come beack out with another season because it was watched by many people who will still watch it today. And indeed More than us will watch it. So stop being so cheap ABC family and give up that money for a third season. I love that show it was and always will be the best show that ever aired on abc family!!!!!

OMG I can’t belive they cannceled faclon beach me and my mom watch it all the time and we love is.we get so into it sometimes we start yelling at the poeple on the screen telling they what todo even though they can’t hear us it ‘s fun but now that it is cancelled we won’t be able to do that.I hope that they change there mind and make season three a lot of people ALL ages would be happy because we love this show.
Im very dissapointed with ABC family channel, beacause Falcon Beach was a very well written and entertaining show! Im so sorry that it could only air for 2 seasons. I hope the directors may take in to consideration and have the 3rd season of falcon Beach to air. I absolutly LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!
i watch the show at first i got it out of pot luck, igot it to try something new im so hooked on teen drama shows unlike the oc and onetree hill this show had somthing else, when people pull the plug they dont think how it will react on the fans, i have become a great supporter of this show, you actually get lost in the story line of this show although i do like other teen dramas like one tree hill, its rely hard to explain but anyone else who is a fan of this show will know… Read more »
I AM 44 AND I LOVE THIS SHOW I CAN’T BELIEVE U TAKE THE GOOD SHOWS OFF THE AIR AND WE WONDER WHY THERE SO MUCH CRAP ON TV BECAUSE THE FAMILY SHOWS GET CANCELED. WHY NOT LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE IF WE WANT TO KEEP THE SHOW. PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE KEEP FALCON BEACH ITS A GREAT SHOW AND I LOVE IT
i am 62 and watch the show. the time may not be the best since i am a late eater, but i always make sure i have it recorded! canceling this show is a big mistake i think. my grandaughter, 12, and i LOVE this show.we have never missed and episode! PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT!
I don’t understand why you guys have to take shows off that everyone of all ages can enjoy. This is a show that I at 29 could sit and enjoy with my daughter. It is sad that people can not enjoy a good television show and get involved in it, because what is the point when the next time you turn around it is off the air. I’m 26 and I have been watching falconbeach since it first started. Its a great show and I don’t know why you would stop airing it. Like other people have said it doesn’t matter the age it matters that people are watching it. Please keep this show running it would be a big mistake to cancel it. I agree at least give us a finale season you at least owe the fans that much that have been watching faithfully and would like to see what happens
Hey, i’m 22 years old and i love this show i’ve been trying to find this in stores to buy. I missed alot because i work nights. But when i was home my boyfriend and i would both watch it. Then it came off the air and i found it on at 2 in the morning. They really need to make another one. I have never kept up with a show before. This is the only one that actually caught my eye.
