What looked to be one of the biggest hits of the new season, FlashForward, isn’t looking like such a hit any longer. Will the series make it to year two?
FlashForward begins as the world’s population blacks out for 137 seconds and they “flash forward” to see visions of their lives six months in the future. The series’ ensemble cast includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Dominic Monaghan, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, and Christine Woods.
The series debuted on September 24th on ABC. The premiere attracted a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 12.47 million viewers. The following week, the number dropped to a very respectable 3.7 and 10.73 million.
For week three, the ratings dropped again to a 3.0 and nine million. Total viewership rose for weeks four and five but the demo remained essentially the same with a 3.1 rating.
On October 29th, FlashForward dropped to a series low of a 2.7 rating and 8.92 million viewers. The sudden drop was understandable because it aired opposite the World Series on FOX. Unfortunately, baseball fans didn’t return last Thursday when there wasn’t a big game. FlashForward’s ratings sank even further to a 2.6 and 8.47 million, barely beating FOX’s Bones for second place.
ABC has already committed to a full season of FlashForward so it’s relatively safe for now. However, if these numbers don’t start going up, the series is far from guaranteed a second season.
What do you think? Do you think the ratings will go back up or will the show burn out in one season? Are you still watching? If so, what could be done better?

it sounds like to me that we have a very large fan base for FF so what will this net work do will they disappoint the viewers or will for once the net work will listen to the viewer. there are times i wonder if the net work really know what is good and what is not or are they just trying to get rid of a good TV show to put something on that has more sex for our kids to watch which i find very distasteful or better yet just do what ABC is doing put on a… Read more »
I hope someone else picks it up immediately and the writers. They keep V and dump the best show in a long time – IDIOTS! I am extremely angry at this, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ !
We are very dissapointed to hear FF may not make it to next season. It’s one of the few good shows out there anymore. (I can’t stand LOST!) FF AND V need to stay on…both are addictive and know how to keep you guessing!
I think there is a big TROUBLE about TV series!
When a TV serie looks like if u miss one chapter u will be missed next one is a turn off to many people, so viewers number will drop!
I preffer to wait to the DVD to see it complete!
I love Flashforward. It’s interesting different and is dealing with futuristic technology.
ABC really has a history of ******** up good TV Series. Find a way to make it work and push the numbers higher. Don’t cancel–please!!!

I would watch Flashforward over Grey’s Antanomy and I love Grey’s. Don’t cancel.
I love Flashforward and know many others that do, also.
Please don’t cancel Flashforward – it will be greatly missed.
This is the BEST show on TV at the moment. If they cancel this i wont need to watch TV.
I watch, breathlessly, each episode. The acting is spectacular. I initally thought of Fast Forward as “Lost Lite,” especially because some of the key actors, but it has taken on its own life. If this is cancelled, and with the end of Lost, I will have no reason to watch ABC much anymore.
Unbelievable… It was the best show around lately: superb writing, original story, and top acting. But it seems we prefer to watch silly teenager super-hero shenanigans or the same repeating plots of “He’s a ***, she’s a YYY; they fight crime!”
I am so disappointed that the networks keep cancelling all the good shows…. I am scared to watch any more new shows!
This is a great show with great writing and excellent acting. Yes, lets cancel this show so some Jackass network big wig can push some crap like The Bachelor season 33 1/2. How is this show suppose to thrive when it takes a three month hiatis at the end of 2009. These characters have really developed unlike that crap on V witched I turned off after the second episode. ABC take notice, stop being a typical greedy American company and push this show for what it is worth, a quality show with talented artists who deserve a chance. What ever… Read more »
Not only do I really like this show, the writing, and the character development… But I like the originality of it. I seriously can’t wait to see more and cannot believe they’d actually consider canceling this show. I have to strongly agree with ‘sunnyforever’ s comment about V continuing and FF not? V is a cheap and horribly acted show, it makes me sick to even see it beefed up so much after watching LOST. If you put FF after LOST … or anything for that matter, you’d have better ratings. But NOTHING compares to good writing and good acting…… Read more »
