Last night FOX premiered their new drama series about a conman. But, how did Lone Star do in the ratings? Was it a big winner or did viewers feel tricked?
Lone Star revolves around Robert Allen (James Wolk), a man who’s living a double life in order to con investors and swindle an oil tycoon family. The only trouble is, he truly loves both of the women he’s connected to as part of the cons. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
Last night, the new TV show got off to a very poor start in the ratings. Lone Star averaged a meager 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.1 million viewers. It ranked a distant fourth in both categories.

The premiere lost more than half of its lead-in audience from House. What’s more, 22% of people who started watching at the beginning of the episode, tuned out halfway through the show. That’s a strong indication that they won’t be back next week. Even if they did, these numbers are terrible.
So, it looks like Lone Star might just be the first cancellation of the new fall season. Unless the ratings have a dramatic turnaround, those who like the show will be lucky if FOX lets all 13 episodes air.
But what did you think? Is Lone Star worth watching? Why aren’t more people watching? Should FOX try to save it or should it just be cancelled already?

It’s a fresh show….everything else on tv right now seems to be a copy of another show…at least most shows….I will watch it…the second half was better
I never even heard of it until I watched it last night. But I liked it. Maybe that’s why there weren’t very many viewers? Didn’t seem like it was advertised much.

It ws a really good show with great acting and decent writing. However, I nearly switched to the Event 15 minutes in — the opening was crap. Didn’t grab you right away and took waaay too long to get going. Lets ditch the artst shots of lugguge going to the plane, etc. No need to overhead that shot. Jeez. The music was really good, too. Maybe a little less though next time. No need to play the whole song to get the atmosphere and keep the show moving. OK? Keep it on the air!
While I thought it had potential I didn’t think it ended up delivering. While the lead character was the only one with real likability is wasn’t enough to put aside all his bad decisions. This is a character who is supposed to feel bad about his life and the choices his father has “made him” make and he ends up making more. If he really wants to start over – he should START OVER. I love this pilot. It was refreshing to watch something original. I’ve grown tired of the same old cop, law, and doctor shows. Lone Star had me hooked in the first 15 minutes. I can only hope that the writers can keep it as fresh and exciting as the pilot. Please keep this one going, and remember there’s alot of power in word of mouth. The key is getting it in the right time slot. PLEASE DON”T CANCEL IT!!!
I was looking forward to this show, and I watched it during its premiere. I enjoyed the setup and am looking forward to seeing where the storyline goes. I hope FOX supports the show, but it is a tough battle. Monday night is so hard with DANCING-STARS kicking everyone’s butt, and then TWO-HALF-MEN still reeling viewers in. THE EVENT took the 24 and LOST fans in hopes of the show being something (as opposed to FLASH FORWARD and THE NINE boring everyone). Doesn’t leave much room for LONE STAR. I LOVED it & I will definitely be tuning in! But seems like every time there’s a show that’s fresh & original & that I get hooked on, it gets cancelled ! The promos the past few weeks had me very interested & I don’t understand why more people didn’t watch. If nothing else, watch it just to see James Wolk (WOW !!!) But I thought the story line was very interesting, lots of tension, some touching scenes, just so much better than all those copycat crime dramas. PLEASE DON’T CANCEL IT !!!!!! I watched it and really liked it. I will be disapointed if cancelled, but not surpise it seems all of my favorite new show are not meant to last Eastwick, Lipstick jungle, Mercy Rasing the Bar, and etc. It seems if I fine a show I really like it is doomed right out of the gate.
I tuned in and liked it. I thought the 2nd half was better than the first. I’ve heard its airing again on Saturday nite. (It is in a tough time slot.) I would not be a fan of The Event (I did my research) and I loathe Dancing With the Stars. I used to like 2 and a Half Men, but feel it should have been retired by now. House and Huddy are a snooze. Watched it last night and enjoyed the writing and characters. Lots of potential if FOX can find a way to save it…and moving it to Friday isn’t the answer. It’s up against tough competition – DWTS and Two and a Half Men. Maybe the story should go in a new direction as which woman would he ultimately choose? Which con life will have to end?
Hope it continues…at least through next week!
