Mad Men may be over, but the show’s legacy lives on. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cast of the AMC series recently reunited for the launch of Matthew Weiner’s new book.
Weiner created the period drama, which followed the staff of a 1960s advertising agency. The cast included Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, January Jones, Christina Hendricks, and John Slattery. The show’s final, seventh season ended in 2015.
Several of the series’ cast members, including Hamm, Jones, Hendricks, Kiernan Shipka, and Jessica Paré, joined Weiner for the launch of his new coffee table book named after the show. Published by Taschen, the two-volume set features photos and script excerpts from Mad Men in addition to exclusive interviews with Weiner, Hamm, and the series’ creative team.
From Weiner:
Despite my reputation for being so controlling, seriously, I don’t know how to make a book. I am a consumer of books, I’m a consumer of art books and coffee table books, but I just let them tell me what to do and do what they wanted to do because I wanted this to be a different experience.
Any book you see out there that’s not this book was not done by us. I didn’t want it to be some flimsy paperback joke book, you know, like crazy hats from Mad Men or something like that. I wanted it to be treated the way Benedikt [Taschen] treats these things, which is like a piece of art.”
