Tonight, CBS aired the final episode of Medium. After seven seasons and 130 episodes, it was time to say goodbye to Allison DuBois (Patricia Arquette), her husband Joe (Jake Weber), their children and friends. The series finale of Medium is called “Me Without You.”
As the episode begins, we see Allison having an evening phone conversation with Joe who’s at the start of a flight home from Hawaii. Later, Allison is awoken by another call from Joe. His flight is arriving early and then it hits turbulence, and crashes into the ocean. The episode flashes forward seven years and we learn that Joe indeed died. Allison is now a lawyer involved in a big drug case. Her boss, the district attorney, is killed by the leader of a drug cartel who’s on trial. Manuel Devalos (Miguel Sandoval) is the mayor and Lee Scanlon (David Cubitt) is the chief of detectives.
Allison begins to dream about Joe and realizes that he’s actually been alive in Mexico with amnesia. The drug lord has been using him to transport narcotics across the border. She ultimately decides to throw the case so that she can reunite with her husband. She and daughter Marie drive to Mexico and she is reunited with him, finally.
Unfortunately, it’s a dream. She awakes back in the present and Joe is there, as a ghost. He did die in the crash and he tried to send a message to Allison about how good her life will still be, even without him. Unfortunately, her mind couldn’t accept it and concocted a way for him to still be alive. Joe tells her how much he loves her and that the loss will hurt for a long time but it will get better. Though she pleads for him to stay, he needs to go.
The scene flashes forward to 41 years later. We see a very old Allison, surrounded by photos of her children and grandchildren. She dies peacefully. Allison appears as her younger self and looks at her now dead body. Joe appears to her, just as he had been. He waited, of course. She asks, “Do I get a kiss?” He replies, “From now, until the end of time.” The two embrace and kiss. They are together, forever more.
The episode ends with brief scenes from the show’s seven year history and each castmember silently saying goodbye to the camera and faithful viewers.
What do you think? Was this a satisfying conclusion to Medium? What did you like or dislike about it?

Maybe some day they’ll let all people vote on what they want to watch.
This is the second time I tried to comment they they erased the first one I guess it’s because I mentioned MeTV and how they canceled Gilligan’s Island
Because somebody’s wife didn’t like the show . Maybe they’ll leave this comment on later
I wish the show had not ended. One of the best on tv. Can they bring it back?
OMG! I realize I’m a little late with this comment as I just watched the last episode on startTV & had no idea it was the last one. “Bravo” to the brilliant writers of the show and the amazing cast!! It never ceases to amaze and entertain me thoroughly and truly hope they bring it back for more seasons.
Cheers!!!
It felt that everything was rushed and it wasn’t the same quality as previous episodes. I was upset that Medium ended so quickly and rushed. I understand the reason but that wasn’t fair for the tv audiences.
Been watching medium for 3 times all the way thru how they ended it was a suprize I continued to watch start tv but would like them to replace crossing jorden with China Beach
Best ending I’ve seen.
I put my phone on the medium an it stays on all Day an all night
Yes that’s me got the show running all the time
It’s my favorite show I’m looking at it rt nw. I Love Briggit. My hart just melts for her.
She reminds me of my Granddaughter I call Maggie
I absolutely loved this series and of course the lead actress. Just watched old episode of housewives of Beverly Hills. I was shocked at the demeanor and attitude of the real Allison Dubois. She is a horrible person and drunk. I feel sorry for her but she has spoiled the show for me. I didn’t see it until lately and was totally enamored of the lead character. It’s such a shame none of it was what I thought. Maybe the actress playing Allison can come back with something new. I love love her so much
I would like Medium to return have a comeback. I loved this show Please bring show back. Forever a fan.
I’m baffled as to why Joe was killed off, the show was obviously ending so it wouldn’t affect ratings no need show was done. Of all the endings this was the worst one writers could’ve come up it.
I loved the end. Everyone in life dies and the whole last show illustrates the pain of losing a partner. That’s life. It was awesome!
I’m not okay with this! The ending – they killed Joe! I’m not okay! And I need somewhere to vent. I just finished watching the entire series on Hulu and I enjoyed it so much….until THEY KILLED JOE! THOSE BA****DS!
I was totally disappointed and let down. You don’t have to have someone die to have empathy and love to come through in a plot good writing does that. To me when you kill a main character you have run out of ideas.
I just watched the last episode it was good but also sad I lost my husband 3yrs ago and I still miss him but I know I’ll see him again one day
