Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

How can it end without another series when we don’t really know what happened to Rebecca at the end. I also loved this show and would like to see another series.
great show I loved and I still love it what I don’t understand is why ABC had to dismiss it. Can I get an appropriate answer?
All I see is positive comment about the show, not sure how this show was cancelled. I watched in on CTV Canada and loves it. Atleast CTV made some effort to build up the hype before the season premier.
I agree great show
I loved this show watched all ten episodes in one night & I can’t believe that abc have cancelled it…
What is wrong with them? Actors were amazing especially ms. Judd. I had never heard of the show & came upon it by chance! So I think the show wasn’t the problem it was the advertising of it that let it down…. Do the second season it is just as good as 24 but didn’t get the same chance!!
This show was great!! We say it on DVD!! This year 2015!! We had no idea it was out since 2012!!! Somebody didn’t do their job and advertise this show, that why nobody followed it!!! They didn’t know it existed!!! Then you blame the show for no followers!!! The show was great!!! Asheley was Great!!! The plot was great!!! The acting was Great!! But the advertising obviously was NOT GREAT!!! very sad, great show I wish it had 10 seasons!! I would watch them all!!!!
It is so typical that the TV executives wouldn’t know quality TV if it came up and bit them on the ass. We need to get those pencil pushers out of Hollywood and replace them with visionaaires.
Nothing new, if it is good they do not want to make more. T.V. is almost total junk anymore, with stupid plots, dumb bimbos scantly clad, sex and vulgarity, so who would want to watch something with some quality in it?
I just ordered this show on netflix because the plot sounded interesting. When I finally found time to watch the movie I stayed up the whole night watching series after series… I found it so captivating I couldn’t turn the tv off.. I was so disappointed that the series didn’t continue. Very well played, actors were amazing, I found this show comparable to 24. I wonder if the time and day the show aired overlapped with other popular shows, thus the low ratings. Excellent show!
In fact I think they should have continued it but I really think it should have not been a show they should have made it a movie it was so interesting!
It was a great program and the sequel should still be made. That it was cancelled must be rather due to the conservative and superficial level of American TV-watchers than due to the quality of the series… No wonder, all these different European (cultural) cities and countries that were involved in the series… far too difficult for the average American, who’s still stating that Belgium is the capital of Brussels…LOL
I too saw the whole season 1 on Belgian television, and although found it very good. I’d love the second season to go ahead and despite it being already 3 years down the road, I think they would do well. Next time however, maybe the actors should not be picked out of people who are so well known.. it makes it too easy to tell who the baddy is !
I definitely like the plot however !
Had the opportunity to watch the series since last week on the Belgian television. I enjoyed it very much and was really surprised with the ending.
It was clearly announcing a second season, so I was quite disappointed to hear that the season two was cancelled.
Saw this on hulu. Rarely does the pilot of any series peak my interest. This show did and i am hooked. Very sad it was canceled.
I had not seen this show advertised. I found it out on a rerun internet site. It was really great – had me hooked. It is sad that they didn’t keep it running for more seasons.

Missing is a damn good show… But I think some people confused this show and another show titled, The Missing. It was the series, The Missing that is nominated for Best Miniseries or Television Film.
Ashley Judd, for this show, Missing, DID receive an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie. The show itself was also nominated for music composition.
