Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.

This was our favorite non-reality show on TV this season, and so sorry to hear it has been cancelled. We found it riveting and couldn’t wait for the next episode, although I will admit that we did record it and watch it later in the evening. ABC, Please reconsider and bring the show back!
Once again another quality show down the tubes. I watched this show from the get go, although due to my work schedule had to DVR it or catch it on huluplus….I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot people are doing this thanks to hectic schedules. I think it is time for networks to figure out new ways of measuring viewership. I don’t think it is black and white anymore.
Come on ABC give this great show a chance. It has a first rate cast….it was shot like a movie not a tv show…this quality was not lost on me..
VERY disappointed to see this show cancelled – this is the first series in quite a while that really held my interest and kept me guessing – it had lots of action and plot twists and turns. This is the one show I made sure to watch every week. I do think the time slot hurt – another day and perhaps a later hour would have been better.
Every time I watch a series that shows promise of being more than a re-write of another the powers that be cancel it. Give a quality show a chance to build an audience and don’t put in the 8:00 pm time slot. Way too early for a new show to catch on. Are the network ex’s not thinking. Maybe we should farm them out to wall street.
I’m sick of reality shows. Why is it that all the good shows get cancelled. Missing was one show that I stuck with and watched faithfully! Please bring it back!
My husband and I are very disappointed that Missing has been cancelled. This program was not given a chance to succeed. The hour went by so fast as we sat at the edge of our seats through each episode. The problem with netwoorks they either put new programs opposite established ones and they also do not give the new programs a chance to succeed. At least give new programs two years to see how they will favor with TV audiences. We love this show!!! Just when it really started to get good you guys want to cancel it? Why don’t you cancel the “Bachelor AND Bachelorette”. Enough of that!!!
This was one of the best new shows this season. How are these ratings calculated? I’ve talked to many people who loved this show. ABC needs to reconsider this decision. Move it to another night/time slot and give it a chance!
Been watching Missing from the beginning love the show and just watched when she finally has her son, now will never know what happened to her after she went to get the car, left the viewers hanging with no ending.
Can’t believe ABC has cancelled “Missing”. Just when it was beginning to get interesting they up and cancel it?! I am sorry but shows like these take a bit of time to build an audience. So many of these networks expect shows to be an over night success and that just doesn’t happen all the time. Time slots make a BIG difference as well and if a show is placed in a time where other well established shows are on the air a lot of times they just don’t stand a chance. I am so upset that they have cancelled “MISSING”! This is one of the first shows that my fiance would actually sit down and watch with me. It always kept us on the edge of our seats and I am disappointed the finale left us hanging and the show will not be returning. We never missed an episode, but I will say I always had to record it and watch later due to the fact that it coincided with a couple other shows that I watch! PLEASE BRING MISSING BACK!!

I SUPPOSE “MISSING” WAS TOO INTELLIGENT FOR MOST ABC EXECUTIVES. IT WAS FAR BETTER WRITTEN THAN 95% OF ABC’S PROGRAMS. MAYBE THEY SHOULD MOVE IT TO CBS AS THEY SEEM TO HAVE THE MOST INTELLIGENT PROGRAMMING IN PRIMETIME
I am so so so disappointed that they have canceled the show. I never missed one episode. They needed to give it a better chance! The time was terrible. I’m sick of reality shows! but obviously that’s what people want to watch.
Sorry this show was cancelled. Very good show and was on my not to miss list – which is only 6 shows a week!!
