Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.

Considering what is on television today, I considered “Missing” a really good show. I enjoyed the action filled scenes , as well as the softer moments. Ashley Judd was absolutely great in her performance as a female “Jason Bourne” character. If the show had been given a fair chance, I think we would have seen the ratings rise. Some of the shows that are being renewed are not worthy of watching. Hopefully, ABC will reconsider, and give Missing aother chance. I truly enjoyed each week the show was on.

ABC needs to talk again on this matter the show was great and they ended with a cliff hanger duh!

Oh COME ONE, this show was HOOKY as all h3ll. It was a lousy attempt to be another “24” with a Chick as Jack Baurer, and it was just as Stupid. The CIA does NOT operate that way, the cast of the CIA ops station was god awful in both acting and their scripts. You can’t go running around Europe shooting up the place and walk away scott free! This is a great show. I can’t believe they are going to cancel this, and leave other crap on. Every time I get into a show they cancel it. I loved the Playboy club, got starting to watch it and it got cancelled.

What a shame that this wonderful show has been cancelled.. I agree with some of the other posters, reality TV is a joke. When we finally get a good show it always gets cancelled. I did not know this until my friend told me about it today & my husband & I are very disappointed.. ABC, your obviously not thinking about your audience!!!!!
Can’t believe this show is being cancelled. Finally a show that kept you on the edge of your seat and we won’t be enjoying another season!!! Please ABC rethink your decision.
I loved MISSING. It was my new favorite show. So much better than the dumb Bachelor and Bachelorette and the other riduculous reality shows. Those are for idiots who can’t think. I don’t know who made the decision at ABC to cancel MISSING, but s/he needs to be missing – missing a job. Can him/her and get someone who knows how to schedule great shows like this and who appreciates well written, directed and acted TV. I hope some other network picks up MISSING. Perhaps USA or TBS? Well after watching the finale, if they knew it was going to be cancelled at least do an edit and take out the cliff hanger at the end – DUH!!!
I did not see the first few episodes . I started this series on day and watched all of it ON DEMAND. I was hooked after that. I think the political debates may have prevented many from getting involved in at the start.
Would love to see more next season.
A wise decision by ABC to cancel “MISSING”. It was a waste of time, money and talent. Ashley Judd is a BEAUTIFUL and HIGHLY talented actress. This show was not worthy of her talent. The show might have made a decent” Movie Of The Week” or a one time two part “Mini- Series”. The story line/plot was an up-grade of “THE FUGITIVE” (1963-1967) tv series, starring David Janssen. That entire series was remade in 1993 as a two hour movie starring Harrison Ford. Both of these were a success. Just my two cents worth.
Really??? I wish ABC would get its act together. I’ve enjoyed the series since it first started but then I hear this. Are they trying to stay last place in the ratings? It was an outstanding show well written and about a mothers love and what she would do to protect her family. Ashame ABC it was a hit just wrong time slot maybe consider taking the slot of housewives since that show is ending wonder if a network executive even thought about that one. Oh wait I forgot you have to have a brain for that.
So the family was reunited, only to have mom disappear in the last 3 mins of the finile. Come on, don’t leave us hanging that way. We need another season, like Micheal find his mother this time around.
