Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Loved the show. There were a lot more viewers than they thought. They better end the series decently. Too bad it was cancelled. Was hooked on it.
Just a thought…
If it all comes down to ratings, maybe we should rate these networks according to the following…
1.How many good quality shows they cancel.
2.How many good quality shows they cancel due to poor scheduling.
3.How many shows get cancelled without airing completely.
4.How many shows get cancelled without at least an attempt to end them properly.
…and then STOP watching those networks!!! Why should we be behind them if they aren’t behind their own programmes. Is it just me that feels cheated every time something like this happens?
AMEN! Couldn’t have said it better. I am SO sick of shows getting cancelled after just 1 season. Please give these shows a chance (maybe poor scheduling times?)!!!
Well said!
agree 100%
Ditto. I’m very disappointed, too.
It shouldn’t be a shock that they would cancel a show that wasnt the same old puke thats allready available on TV,smart, has action, interesting locations. I have completely lost my faith that program execs know how to do anything but program to the lowest iq required.
what an ass a nine trhing to do u are taking the best show off bad mistate i will not watch another show on abc please bting it back
So upset this is being cancelled. An Excellent Show! There are so many other shows that would not be missed if cancelled- The Bachelor, Wife Swap, pretty much all the REALITY shows on TV! ABC needs to take another look at this one!
I cannot beleive that Missing is being cancelled. All of my friends and myself watch it faithfully. It is action passed with twists and turns all over the place. Why do the good shows get cancelled and the stupid reality shows stay on. Hopefully another network will be smart enough to pick it up.
I really enjoyed this show. I am very disappointed that this was cancelled. SMH…
We love the show!!!! It was our replacement for “Lost.” Good TV is very hard to find. We will miss it!!
I think this blows! This is a really good show! I am so sick of reality shows. What ever happened to real TV shows like- TJ Hooker, Hunter, and Miami Vice just name a few. THis show has the potential to get better. It has kept me intrigued, and on the edge of my seat for each episode. I am so so sad to see it end
Loved this show! Poor decision to cancel. So few good shows on network TV. Ashley Judd was so believable in the role.
One of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. Ashley Judd is superb!!!
ABC, you are making a huge mistake!!!
For the love of God, must we watch only moronic shows. “Missing” made you think and watch all the beautiful scenery. What are these network execs thinking. They have no idea what the public wants.
I love this show!!! It is one the few that I look forward to watching every week. Can’t believe that ABC canceled it. Hopefully it gets picked up by another network (i.e., TNT, USA Network, NBC, CBS)! Don’t want to see it go.
I agree with you – really hoping another station pick up “Missing” – I am hooked!!
Soooooo tired of reality? TV – If I want reality I can watch the news! They have no idea what the public wants to see – and BTW, I am sick of “can you sing? can you dance?” shows.
What is wrong with ABC? This was one of the best show on TV. If that time slot wasn’t working they should have given it a chance and changed it. They have done that with other shows, the quality and acting in this show was superb and it deserves to stay on the air.
This show was excellent! It reminded us of “24”. The ratings are wrong – must be an issue with the time slot. “Missing” should be continued by another network – how about Fox.
