Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
My son is 12 years old and has Asperger, my wife and myself connected with the family so much and enjoyed to see all six season. They need to bring more family oriented movies like Parenthood to tv. This show had me since day one, sadly I had to see it on Netflix. NBC we need more shows like Parenthood. Thank you!!
I agree with all of these comments! What wonderful cast and storylines. It always made me feel so happy by the end of each episode and I couldn’t wait to see the next one. Parenthood was a quality program, something for people to watch and enjoy that have a heart and intelligence. I have plenty of guilty pleasure show I like but this show I LOVED! There are so many shows that are exactly alike except the actors and the city they take place in. The storylines are the same every week….. so boring!!! That or the other type of… Read more »
Parenthood is one of the best ensemble family shows I’ve ever seen. I am on the final season (Netflix), and I’m going to be sad when it ends. This show makes it painfully clear how much we need more of the positive, life affirming, storylines that this show presents; superb ! Spoiled for anything less.
I am stunned there aren’t more viewers. I streamed on Netflix (just hearing about the show), and absolutely could not get enough of it. This is one show that ended too soon. We need to get it back on the air!!! The cast is phenomenal, the story line great and it’s great for all ages. My heart is saddened by the quick end to this series. Please bring it back!
I would go to great lengths to support an effort to get this show back on the air. I was not even aware of the show when it was going, and I just finished the season finale today. Losing this show hurt. I mean, sobbing on the couch, heart broken kind of hurt. As a 24 year old who gets wholeheartedly invested in a good TV show, I must say that this is the first show that has repeatedly provided positive examples of personal growth and family. I cannot explain how profoundly valuable that has been to me. We NEED… Read more »
Parenthood is one of those wonderfully refreshing glimpses of life that is so real it makes you feel like you want to invite all the Bravermans over for dinner. The actors’ performances are incredibly human and managed to evoke such depth of emotion in me from the first episode to the last. The characters are everyone we know – every family member, every friend, every co-worker, every acquaintance. The series finale broke my heart while the singers sang “Forever Young” at the Luncheonette and the family’s lives moved on. Such a beautiful example of quality entertainment with a cast of… Read more »
Seems to me the viewers have spoken. Keep Parenthood going. What a great show for all ages. Insightful, refreshing and engaging. Great writers and actors.
We loved this show I literally cried when I found out it was over! It’s been my favorite. I would love to see it come back. What a task it would be for the writers though to see parenthood without Zeek. I love all of these actors and actress’. Please bring it back!
Y’all really made my wife mad by ending this show. Please bring it back.
Hello. Just need to comment how wonderful the show parenthood has always been. T.v.needs so many more show like this that any one in the family could watch. I just watched the last show twice and cried. Whoever wrote this was so good at putting it all together. Bring it back please or more shows like this. Sharon
Parenthood will not be seen in 2015,so instead we may bring you sexual affairs and more topless women and more violence and profanity on television.
So sad to see it go
Please keep Parenthood on the air. We all really enjoy it.
I’m saddened that such amazing shows as Parenthood don’t get the ratings. In my opinion, this is a comment on an increasingly uneducated public which prefers gory, guttural murder shows or conflict ridden courtroom-like dramas. I would keep this show on the air for the sake of families, who are faced with a smaller and smaller pool of shows from which to choose. This realistic show was one the entire family could watch. We learned lessons from the families involved, and could relate to their struggles. Perhaps ratings are not the best measure for quality programming.
Love it. It wasn’t trash tv. I’m very sad to see it go.
