NBC has decided to yank their freshman sitcom Perfect Couples from the schedule after April 7th. It’ll be replaced by The Paul Reiser Show on Thursday nights. Does this mean that Perfect Couples is canceled and gone for good?
Perfect Couples revolves around three young couples. Dave (Kyle Bornheimer) and Julia (Christine Woods) are the “everyday couple,” who are messed up in all the “normal” ways. Vance (David Walton) and Amy (Mary Elizabeth Ellis) are the high-passion, high-drama couple. Rex (Hayes MacArthur) is a reformed party guy and Leigh (Olivia Munn) is a self-anointed relationship guru who considers it her duty to mold the other couples in their image.
The NBC sitcom has been struggling in the ratings from the beginning. The network gave it viewers a sneak peak in December and that generated a terrible 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 3.56 million viewers. A month later, the second episode brought a mediocre 2.1 rating and 4.15 million. The numbers quickly started falling and the latest episode hit a low of a 1.2 rating.
The whole season of Perfect Couples currently averages a 1.5 rating in the demo and just 3.27 million viewers. It’s the lowest-rated scripted series on the network by far and even The Cape has a better season average. Bornheimer has committed to a new FOX pilot while Walton has signed on for a new NBC one.
So, no, NBC has not cancelled Perfect Couples officially, there are many very strong indications that it won’t be back next season. NBC has no incentive to bring it back and even cast one of the sitcom’s actors in one of their new shows.
Right now, it looks like there will be four unaired episodes of Perfect Couples. They may or may not see the light of day at a later date.

I am sad! I really look forward to the show…All of the chracters are hilarious. I do record alot as well so this may skew numbers…why makr 4 shows and NOY air them;instead we see endless reruns offered of old law and order….
I watched every episode and sometimes I watch them online at work during lunch breaks. I feel like every show I like NBC cancels. 🙁
Dang…I loved this show. Loved it. Oliva Munn was awesome, all of the actors were great really, The Waitress from Sunny was awesome…*sigh*….
my opinion of the show is exactly the same as Chris, my wife and I will be sad to see it go. There are worst shows on NBC on Thursday nights

Perfect Couples is quickly becoming my favorite show. The first episode really annoyed me but I love the Thursday night lineup and gave it another chance and fell in love. I hate Parks and Rec and I can’t figure out how that is staying on the air. And The Office without “Michael Scott?” There’s no way that’s going to last.
my wife and i like this show and are very sorry to see it cancelled. we record the show, which i assume does not help the ratings. i wonder if they count dvr/tivo etc. into the ratings?
Good riddance, I say… that show should have never gotten picked up in the first place.
Perfect Couples is a horrible show that tried to hard to be funny, but failed… Olivia Munn could not be more annoying and less funny.
i love the show but i can not stand David Walton in the Vance Character. the character is fine, he is just annoying. I’m sure he is a nice man but not suited to this series
This is the 4th show cancelled by NBC I watched this year alone. I’m thinking about moving my business over to CW… And their shows suck! But at least I can depend on them! Parks & Rec’s is one of the worst shows on TV right now. Yet they keep that it going. I’m starting to think NBC only air shows for a slower less witty audience. Well at least we still have CBS! One of the ONLY channels left that tries to keep ppl entertained.
Have you even seen Parks & Recreation since the first season? The second season got new writers and was awesome right from the start. It deservedly topped many critic’s lists. GQ even rated it best sitcom of the year. Perfect Couples has grown on me, but it’s no Parks and Rec.
I’m sorry, but are you f*#^ing kidding me?! A majority of the worst shows on TV are on CBS! Two and a Half Men? Amy Poehler is absolutely amazing and so is the rest of the cast!! Also really a slower less witty audience, have you seen 30 Rock?! The ONLY entertainment that CBS offers is How I Met Your Mother. A majority of the time CBS cannot hold my attention for more that 2 minutes before I hear a stupid joke.
