ABC certainly needs some successful new shows and hasn’t had much luck this season. Shows like Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Mind Games have already been cancelled while Betrayal surely will be. How about Resurrection? Will it be dropped or renewed for season two?
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when deceased loved ones start to return. The cast includes Omar Epps, Kurtwood Smith, Frances Fisher, Devin Kelley, Matt Craven, Samaire Armstrong, Mark Hildreth, Sam Hazeldine, and Landon Gimenez.
The series received a lot of promotion and launched early this month to a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.9 million total viewers. That was a very impressive start — the highest-rated mid-season network debut in two years.
It’s not all good news however. In week two, the ratings dropped 19%. In week three, they dropped another 18%, to a 2.6 demo rating with 9.5 million.
While these declines are significant, the show’s ratings are still very healthy — particularly for Sunday nights. ABC has been having a lot of trouble on that night and Resurrection is the best news they’ve seen in awhile.
The next few weeks’ ratings will play a big role in deciding the show’s fate. As long as the numbers level off soon, it’s a safe bet that ABC will renew Resurrection. If they plummet, season two will be more of a longshot.
But what do you think? Have you been watching Resurrection? If you ran the network would you cancel the series or renew it for 2014-15?
Keep it! Very interesting show with a great cast!
I hope it continues I guess we’ll find out if the resurrected are going to age since Jacob is going to look older when season 2 comes about if it is renewed
I find the premise intriguing, the acting solid and only want to see what will be next. Omar Epps is an old favorite here (House was mandatory viewing for years) and it’s nice to see him again. I think there are far too many breaks, etc. but then that’s TV in the big city I guess. Keep it going anyway. It’s very well done.
KEEP this show! Please!
KEEP!!!
A tolerable show. Not the best, tbough not the worst. Acting can be better in some parts. Won’t celebrate if renew, nor cry if it’s cancelled. What will lose me is if the way they come back isn’t revealed somewhat sooner than later.
It has a great cast and interesting mystery-LOST —feeling—LOST got better as the years passed—give it a chance! don’t cancel yet!
I love this show so far! Please don’t cancel it–
I really love this show! The characters are interesting, the actors are great, and the storyline and plot are awesome. Resurrection is my new favorite show and I really hope it does get a second season. It’s so much better than most other shows right now, and I did not like Believe at all (these shows always get compared, but I thought Believe was awful!!) Please don’t cancel Resurrection!!
I love this show. It’s different and very good. ABC please keep this show on tv. Thanks!
I like the show – it keeps you guessing – keep it for another season.
Watch this and Believe and then view Crisis. I think it’s known worldwide that the audience wants to be entertained with new fast moving creativity. Seems like the “writers” watch too much 10 o’clock news and expect everyone to cower to their rehash of it. THE NEWS IS NOT ENTERTAINING AND THE REPORTERS ARE NOT CELEBRITIES. If the President was more involved in saving America instead of having his makeup touched up for the Tonight Show or Oprah we would not be in the mess he has not addressed until it was too late! And we do not want to… Read more »
Cancel it. It seems too many “dead” people are now coming out of the woodwork and there will be no end to a series of this kind. If they stayed with one person I could have endured, but not this way.
I don’t love the show, but it is not awful either. I would be okay with either decision. I personally watch Believe, and love that. And, then catch Resurrection On Demand later in the week.
I have enjoyed watching it… I like the actors and it’s a good mystery. I hope they don’t cancel it and leave us wondering how it all happened….
