ABC certainly needs some successful new shows and hasn’t had much luck this season. Shows like Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Mind Games have already been cancelled while Betrayal surely will be. How about Resurrection? Will it be dropped or renewed for season two?
On Resurrection, a small town in Missouri is turned upside down when deceased loved ones start to return. The cast includes Omar Epps, Kurtwood Smith, Frances Fisher, Devin Kelley, Matt Craven, Samaire Armstrong, Mark Hildreth, Sam Hazeldine, and Landon Gimenez.
The series received a lot of promotion and launched early this month to a 3.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 13.9 million total viewers. That was a very impressive start — the highest-rated mid-season network debut in two years.
It’s not all good news however. In week two, the ratings dropped 19%. In week three, they dropped another 18%, to a 2.6 demo rating with 9.5 million.
While these declines are significant, the show’s ratings are still very healthy — particularly for Sunday nights. ABC has been having a lot of trouble on that night and Resurrection is the best news they’ve seen in awhile.
The next few weeks’ ratings will play a big role in deciding the show’s fate. As long as the numbers level off soon, it’s a safe bet that ABC will renew Resurrection. If they plummet, season two will be more of a longshot.
But what do you think? Have you been watching Resurrection? If you ran the network would you cancel the series or renew it for 2014-15?
Keep it!
It’s VERY moving and intense at time but can also be a bit slow. None the less Jacob is a darling actor and his parents love for him exude right off the screen. My heart melts every time I see him with his mother!
I’m constantly on nerves worried about the fate of Jacob……please don’t write him off, otherwise I’m gone!!!
Please keep the show on. I am so excited to watch it and cannot wait until the next week
for it to come back on.
I have been watching it from the beginning. I liked it but am starting to lose interest in it. It is slow. I will finishing watching the season to see if it gets better but at this point, not sure I would watch another season.
Is a Keeper!!! My boyfriend & I love the show. Most def a keeper.
Absolutely love this show. It is moving a little slow but that’s OK. I wouldn’t miss a minute of it. If I can’t sit down and watch it while it is on, I record it on my DVR so I don’t miss a thing. Amazing how Tom’s dead lady is pregnant. Can wait for season 2.
Keep it!
‘Resurrection’ is a keeper. Emotion and thrill flow through when watching that show. It must not be cancelled!!
Keep the show. I love the suspense from week to week. Great show.
I think the writing is very good. Last night was one of the best performances by Kurtwood Smith that I have ever seen him do. Please keep it, I for one and my family will continue to watch.
Love this show. It is so intriguing. Jacob is wonderful. Only program on tv that is worth watching besides 24 which will be on tv shortly. Resurrection keeps you on your seat. Please continue showing it.
Sundays have traditionally been designated as Cable nights with the Fox Animation Domination lineup as a given. True Blood, Shameless, Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire, and the list goes on and on, have always ranked far higher than the other network shows. With the introduction of Resurrection and Believe things have changed in our house. We watch these shows (both airing at the same time, so one live and the other recorded, and we swap which every other week.) as a family without fail to date. There is finally a reason to turn back to basic television again.… Read more »
I agree with you whole heartedly. First time I have stayed with basic television in a very long time. I am always looking forward to the next episodes of both Resurrection and Believe.
I’m only watching Resurrection because I watch Once Upon a Time & Revenge, and it’s right in between those shows. It’s interesting but I’m not hooked…it’s moving way too slow. I feel like the story is plodding along. If I ran ABC I would cancel Resurrection and RENEW NASHVILLE and give that the 9pm Sunday slot. Nashville is mesmerizing. I can’t even believe the network is wavering about whether or not to renew it. Anyway, if Resurrection could pick up the pace, I might change my tune. We’ll see!
resurrection is a great show but i am really into the walking dead I was disappointed that it was on at the exact same time as the walking dead I think if you want the ratings to really go up I would change the time from maybe 8oclock until 9. In my opinion it was very stupid to put it on at the same time even the commercial were at the same time when i tried to flip back and fourth and I wouldn’t give up the walking dead I have watched it from the beginning
I watched the french version and it was brill, couldnt wait once i herd it would be made into english speeking….although they are different from each other, they are telling more or less the same story, dont stop this show its brill…. the french are making a series 2..we dont want them to have all the glory now do we………
The concept is good, but the writing stinks as does some of the acting. The editing also needs some work. All in all, I’d cancel the show. Much better shows have gotten the ax so how this series has managed to get any rating points going up against The Good Wife and even Believe, is quite perplexing. I actually think the Nielsen’s ratings is a bunch of bull anyways, but that’s just my opinion.
