A couple weeks ago, ABC officially cancelled their freshman TV show, FlashForward. Though it got off to a good start in the fall, the show’s ratings declined fairly steadily throughout the season. Like many ongoing serials that are end before their time, the last episode of FlashForward left many questions unanswered.
In the FlashForward series, the world’s population passes out unexpectedly for 137 seconds and has a vision of a future date. The series features a large ensemble cast that includes Joseph Fiennes, John Cho, Jack Davenport, Zachary Knighton, Peyton List, Brian F. O’Byrne, Courtney B. Vance, Sonya Walger, Christine Woods, Genevieve Cortese, Dominic Monaghan, Gabrielle Union, Lee Thompson Young, Ryan Wynott, Barry Shabaka Henley, and Lennon Wynn.
Fans of the series have been trying to get the network to reverse its cancellation decision and are now planning an unusual demonstration on the show’s behalf. In addition to sending calendars, friendship bracelets (similar to the one Fiennes’ character wears), and letters to the network, they plan to stage blackouts in front of ABC network offices and affiliate stations across the country — for 137 seconds.
The pretend blackouts are planned for June 10th and will take place in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle, and Atlanta. And, though they don’t have ABC network locations to target, fans in various countries around the world — Canada, England, Spain, Italy, Germany — are also planning similar demonstrations.
Ultimately, the networks care about ratings (something FlashForward was sorely lacking) but this demonstration is sure to get their attention. It’s highly unlikely that ABC will reverse its decision to cancel the series but hopefully they will be persuaded to give the series some sort of closure.
What do you think? Do you believe that ABC can be persuaded to bring FlashForward back for season two? Would you be satisfied with anything less? Perhaps a TV movie or an additional episode to wrap things up?
I’m willing to blackout ABC for 137 days. Most of their shows are terrible anyway. With the exception of The Mentalist, I rarely watch ABC.
And as for V, I lost interest the first time around. I haven’t watched a single minute of the new show.
I will not be happy if Flash Forward does not come back but the LEAST ABC CAN DO if to wrap it up with additional episodes! With yet another show being canceled, my time with ABC will be limited if not at all.
I am disapointed that Flashforward series is being cancelled just after one series. I was a fan and would have liked it to continue.
Save FlashForward for season 2, whatever happened to putting new shows back on Saturday night instead of showing re-runs………
Next to Lost, FlashForward was the best show on tv period…there are no shows remaining on ABC that I have any interest watching…during sweeps I saw promos for a stupid new vampire series…I mean really? Vampires and Aliens…I guess that is what they think sells, but I prefer some intellectual content in my TV viewing.
Too bad it’s not a real blackout. At least the show is blacking out though, that’s some solace.
If ABC marketing execs had any imagination they would have thought up a fans global blackout themselves to publicise the show. We are thinking of donbg the blackout here in Glasgow,Scotland but we’d probably get carried off in an ambulance. Good luck to everyone who’s getting involved.
Well good luck with trying to get that to work.

If they won’t bring it back for a decent conclusion, then read the original book.
I suppose it was the victim of the current climate of vacuous reality rubbish that infects our screens, and the unwillingness of some people to actually engage in a thought process that doesn’t involve a phone vote.
Soon enough the masses will be some spoon fed blobs incapable of a coherent conversation, palming answer pads in reaction to bright colours and loud irritating noises, thank you Simon Cowell.
I was absolutely SHOCKED when I found out Flashforward was not going to be aired for another season. It has been my favorite show in quite some time, and I really don’t like a lot of the shows out there. I certainly hope that someone, if not ABC, should air another season or at least a movie to wrap it up. Although I won’t be participating in one of the demonstrations I will certainly give the show a GREAT rating!
Is very difficult to fight the argument such as the lack of rating, but is not acceptable not to have the right closure for the show.
I would like to see at least another season.
There are enough histories to follow, questions to answer and the words “the end”on top of a blackboard.
But the end is coming for less mysterious reasons; money.
I hope some other network and screenwriters can see the potential of this series.
ABC network is the best network that i know but this movie is different. I mean think about the hole new idea. I think there is going to be another season for sure.
Please bring back flashforward, for a start there are too many unanswered questions at the end of the series. It was an excellent series, complicated but addictive. We really need to know what happened next!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (an explanation of the first series would be good too!!)
Flashforward was the best show on that network. I can’t believe they preferred V over this ground-breaking show. The production, acting, plot and so may other aspects, make it unique. I really would like to see it continue. A movie? sure, more episodes? of course! And if this is not possible, sell a book with the script for the next season. i would buy it just to know how the story evolves.

there are SO many unanswered questions after the finale! If the series won’t be renewed I think it either needs to be sold to another network or ABC should air a one or two-part special to satisfy the fans with some answers and closure!
