Star Trek is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Thursday, and one member of the original cast is ready to say good-bye to his character. Walter Koenig spoke about the series and his bringing Chekov to life one more time. He joined the series during its second season.

Koenig will soon appear in Renegades 2: Requiem, a fan based Star Trek online project. According to Blastr, Koenig said the following about the project, which will include his last appearance as Chekov:

“It’s a very satisfying episode. It’s called Renegades 2: Requiem. I feel like I’ve come full circle with this character. I’m happy with letting this be the last appearance of this character I’ve played. I’m proud of it.”

The project is now in post-production, according to Koenig.
