TV show description:
This thriller TV show follows the return of a politician’s young son who’s been presumed dead since he disappeared over 10 years ago. As the mysterious teen is welcomed back into his family, suspicions begin to emerge. Is Adam Warren (Liam James) really who he says he is?
Claire Warren (Joan Allen) is the matriarch of the Warren family who threw herself into a political career following her son’s disappearance. PTA mom turned Mayor, now with the Governorship of Maine in her sight, Claire’s political motives come under scrutiny when Adam’s shocking return suddenly makes her a player on a national stage.
Claire’s once devoted husband, John Warren (Rupert Graves) drifted from their marriage following Adam’s disappearance and tired of living in the shadow of Claire’s political career. Now the author of a successful grief management book series, he travels frequently, is unfaithful to Claire, and becomes sick of the hypocrisy of his role as happy husband.
Willa (Alison Pill, Madeleine Arthur) is the Warren’s perfect, tightly laced daughter, has never shaken her childhood guilt over letting Adam disappear on her watch and has become deeply religious in the ten years since it happened. In an effort to make up for the pain she’s caused her family, she’s thrown herself into shaping Claire’s powerful political career, often at the expense of her own personal life.
Danny (Zach Gilford) is the family’s older son. Once a popular, athletic and self absorbed teenager (Rarmian Newton), he’s spent the past ten years wasting his potential and pouring alcohol over the pain of losing his brother. When Adam suddenly returns, Danny wonders if it’s actually Adam that’s back or a dangerous stranger living in their house.
A celebrated detective with the police force, Sergeant Nina Meyer (Margot Bingham) covered Adam Warren’s disappearance as a young Officer, eventually solving the case by forcing a confession out of the family’s neighbor. She was quickly promoted but now, devastated that she put the wrong person away, Nina is determined to find the boy’s real kidnapper.
Hank Asher (Andrew McCarthy) is the Warren’s neighbor and a known sex offender. He was bullied and coerced into confessing to Adam’s murder and served ten years behind bars before Adam reappeared. Hank is abruptly released from prison to a life he barely recognizes, full of anger towards the family who ruined his life and the justice system that locked him away. Will he seek revenge or redemption?
Episode #12 — What Took So Long?
Claire finally realizes what Adam and Ben endured when she visits the hell hole-like tomb where they were kept, exploding with grief, anger and frustration. Meanwhile Jane looks to make a getaway as Nina closes in on Doug’s location, and Agent Clements’ time is running out. Hank comes face to face with his inner demons, and one phone call shatters Ben’s world, forcing him to tackle an uncertain destiny.
First aired: May 15, 2016.
What do you think? Do you like The Family TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season?
This show should NOT be cancelled !!! It’s one of the best ever !
Hard to believe they would cancel this one. Such an interesting plot, complex characters, and terrific acting…please, A&E, pick this one up!!!
I am very disappointed that “The Family” is being cancelled. On the edge of my seat weekly at the end of each episode, eagerly waiting for next week’s episode. If there is anyway to keep this drama and bring it back please do so.
Will another station please, please, please pick up this show. This was the best show on TV. I could not wait to watch this show each week. How could they leave us hanging like thiis letting us know that Adam is alive and that his sister killed the journalist and so on. That is just wrong that this show will not continue. When are you going to finally get it ABC, that most new shows don’t make it when when they are premiered on Sunday evenings. I am so tired that shows are not given a chance anymore. It did… Read more »
please keep the famly awesome show that ive been glued to every week love it so sad
I love this show. How could it end like this? Great drama!
So disappointed to discover my favorite show has been cancelled! Looked forward to it every week; love the actors and writing. So many clever twists and turns, now I will miss the real finale show that ties in all the lose ends. This last show was NOT a conclusion, just leaves us with more unanswered questions.
Network TV is so lame, they give you something truly wonderful then abruptly take it away. The LEAST they could have done was finish out the storyline before ending it.
so sad you cancelled yet another show I really liked, you also cancelled Blood and Oil that I really liked, and Resurrection was really good too I am sick of getting hooked on these shows and then you cancel them get your act together ABC.
I love the show!! Now one of the best parts and they r going to cancel it!!!
The problem is not that this wasn’t a great show; it’s one of the best dramas that’s been on in years with an amazing cast. The format kept you constantly guessing and just when you had decided what you thought was going on, the last 2 minutes would provide a jaw dropping shocker. The problem is the network(s). We are sheep and they treat us that way. They are so afraid to really promote/advertise anything different. Half the time they tell us to watch their “hit”show before the first episode. In contrast, this show was almost a secret. Lots of… Read more »
Ok, so I usually don’t watch shows on abc channel but, got hooked on the family. Thanks for wasting my time with a dead in show without a ending!!Now I remember why I don’t watch abc tv.
I looked forward to Sunday nights to see what was going to happen next on The Family…..I think the writers were awesome….they wrote to keep the fans so excited for the next episode. When I found out that it was canceled, I was so disappointed. Why would ABC do this? I think it’s a big mistake.
WHY? It is really a superior show, with so many twists to it. Please don’t leave us hanging! At least another season should be aired to give us closure to the characters we have come to love as our own FAMILY!!!
This is one of the few TV shows I actually look forward to watching; it has only been on for a short time and should be given a chance for it to catch on with more viewers. I know many people who watched it religiously. Please don’t cancel!
This was a good show .Why cancel it.
