Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

Sorry to see this great show cancelled. It was one of the few show my husband and I both liked.
I can not believe that they are canceling The Finder. We both love that show . . . I hope another network is smarter than FOX and picks up The Finder.
No way this show should have been cancelled. The final show left me with more questions than answers! I have seen what the other stations are planning and Finder has them beat! Bring it back!
I’ll never watch Fox again! Every time I find a show that I like they either cancel it mid-season or after only one season.
FOX finally has a show the entire family could watch that doesn’t involve Blood/guts vampires and the paranormal supernatural. The Finder was fresh-funny-and you were abble to relate to all characters…to cancel this show is tragic..yet to end it as you did was even more tragic..now we ‘ll never know what happens to any of them.. I loved this show. Great acting; good writing and a nice refreshing change from the whiney escapades of the Kardashian, the Housewives, etc. So tired of finding nothing on to watch except reality nonsense and one thing comes along refreshingly different and well written and it’s gone. Remember Fox, Star Trek was cancelled and then made mega money for those that took a gamble – would have been helpful if it had been advertised as well – we found it by accident – albeit a joyous one.
Are you kidding me? I’m attached to ALL the characters and there is way too much left for FOX to pull this show! Plus-the way the show ended, there are NO answers, only more questions! You can’t leave us hanging as to how they get him out of jail and what happens to Willa and the others. This is wrong! BRINGIT BACK!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!

Fox you missed the Boat again
Sorry to see this end. Hated the last 5 minutes. Should NEVER have seen this as an ending. Sorry to see this happen as this show brought out the effort some of our vets face. Hope there is another network to pick this up.
Loved the show. I kept missing episodes since I don’t watch tv on regular basis. Now that I see the network changed the nights that it aired, that explains why I had trouble keeping up. Anyway, interesting character development.
I didn’t like the gypsy aspect of the show. It kind of made me feel stupid just watching it. I feel a better option would have been the rebel daughter of a mob family. Mob families have always been portrayed as good people who are caught in a dirty line of work. It’s essentially the exact same as they tried to make the gypsy family out to be except it’s not stupid. Does FOX ever watch any of its shows? The Finder is a good solid show, cast well, with a really good feel to it. Lame decision to cancel… of course FOX has demonstrated on many occasions its brain dead decision making ability.
