Bones has been a quiet hit for FOX but the same can’t be said for its spin-off, The Finder. FOX has now cancelled the low-rated series after one season.
The Finder is a procedural series that revolves around a man (Geoff Stults) with the extraordinary ability to help people find the unfindable. Other castmembers include Maddie Hasson, Mercedes Masohn, and Michael Clarke Duncan.
The spin-off debuted on January 12th to a disappointing 1.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.50 million total viewers. It was fourth in its Thursday night timeslot right out of the gate and lost nearly 30% of the all-important demo from its compatible lead-in, Bones. This was not a good start.

Things picked up a bit in the following weeks, thanks in large part to the show having FOX’s blockbuster American Idol as a lead-in. Still, the numbers weren’t as high as they should have been.
After seven weeks on the air, FOX put Finder on hiatus and then moved it to Friday nights, giving its Thursday timeslot to Touch. If The Finder could maintain a healthy percentage of its viewers after the switch, it would likely garner a renewal.
But that didn’t happen and Finder’s numbers dropped like a rock. In its first Friday airing, the freshman series attracted a 1.1 demo rating — an episode-to-episode loss of 53% — with just 4.03 million viewers. The numbers for future episodes fluctuated a bit but didn’t really get any more encouraging. The network could do just as well or better by running cheaper reality programming.
The season finale of The Finder is set to air this Friday night and there won’t be any episodes after that. Hopefully the producers saw the writing on the wall early enough and won’t leave viewers hanging with any major unresolved storylines.

I think The Finder was canceled too soon, it feels like someone ripped the last chapter out of a really good book. Please give it one more chance and give one of my favorite shows a proper ending.
How can a new show compete with the Thursday night lineup? Even ‘the office’ had lower numbers.
Bring it back!!!!! Not everyone likes that reality sh##. The Finder and Harry’s Law gone.

What happened is they put it on Friday night at 8:00 (Eastern). Most people go out at this time on a Friday night. I did record it so I could watch it. This is a great show!!!
the finder was an awesome show. i cant believe that they cancelled it. smh. and also they revise “breaking in” and cancel it again. wow.
Behind what the ultimate consumer wants,… what’s the target market? Sure, reality shows pull in the most advertising capital but when are the networks going to leave a show on that goes beyond bull-s#! network’s mid-management inability to take off the blinders and not run with the lemmings. Network people are incredulous, spineless gutter dwellers that only make decisions based on fear rather than the voice of the people. “The Finder” should not be cancelled…. just another reason to ignore the robotic and ephemeral idiots trying to make decisions for the collective.
This was one of foxs most stupitest desicions it was one of my fav. Enjoyed it from the bigging but of course Canadian viewer dont count fox has lost a viewer looked at the new shows there is not one of them that I will watch the only show will be Bones and believe me if I find it on other channels wont watch it on fox I sm sick of cartoons and reality shows had with it all.

What went wrong is you canceled it! It was a great show. Do you realize that many people don’t watch cable anymore. What was Hulu’s rating? I’m a big fan and I can’t believe you left us with him being locked away for finding his mother. I love the cliff hanger, but it can’t end there. Bring it back and give it a bigger storyline. That’s probably the only problem. The only storyline that carried from episode to episode was the gypsy wedding plans. You have a great cast give them a bigger plot. I do not think they should of cancelled it! That was the wrong decision! They could of done other things before that decision! I liked the series it was refreshing and different than most things on tv!! I don’t know why it didn’t get good ratings it should of! I am hoping fans can get it put back on the air again! I’m kinda upset its cancelled actually! It was one of the better series on tv and now that its gone I might not watch Fox anymore !
the only thing wrong with “the finder” is that no one knew it existed. we found it by accident and we love it. please bring it back! or at least webisodes…….pleeeeeeeze

I loved The Finder & am very sad to see it go. I think when they moved it to Fridays they lost a lot of people because I, for one, did not see any ads saying when they moved it to so I had to go looking for it & as my cable guide only runs a couple days ahead I had to look a couple times through the week.
