FOX has decided to wrap their summer run of The Good Guys a few weeks early, on August 2nd. The network had previously planned to air original episodes of the Bradley Whitford / Colin Hanks series until August 23rd.
The series debuted to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.93 million viewers. The numbers have essentially fallen each week and hit a low of a 1.0 rating and 3.42 million viewers.
Despite garnering poor ratings during the summer months, The Good Guys remains on the network’s fall schedule. Original episodes will return to FOX beginning Friday, September 24th. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
FOX has lower expectations for summer shows but it’s hard to believe that the network is pleased with the series’ performance. It seems that they’re keeping it on the fall schedule in hopes that viewers will tune in on Friday nights instead of trying one of the other networks’ new shows.
By the time Good Guys finishes its summer run, FOX will have aired nine original episodes. That will leave 11 new episodes for the fall. The real test will be to see if the network orders any more. Right now, that doesn’t seem likely.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Guys? Do you think it’ll last to see a second season? Should it?

Very entertaining. I’m not a big TV watcher, but this is one show I look forward to. Definitely a keeper.
We really enjoyed this show and looked forward to seeing it every week. Very disappointed when it wasn’t showed anymore. I sure hope it will be brought back in the fall. We don’t have enough funny shows anymore and this one had me laughing a lot.
This show was SO GREAT! We didn’t watch it for a long time because it looked so dumb, but we got hooked the very first time we hooked in because we laughed from start to finish. How could such a sophisticate from West Wing be out there “busting punks?” I pray this show comes back — we really need the laughs.
I wouldn’t watch this show if you paid me to do so.
End it already.
Loved the show and looked forward to it every week. Very disapointed and irritated when we could no longer find it. Too many good shows disappear without being given a fair run. Sometimes it takes a while for the average person to find a show, even when there are so many poor choices out there. The pickings are so slim in the summer, we tend to start looking elsewhere for evening entertainment when we’re at home but we have been known to give up outside events when our favorite shows are on. Thank goodness for recording DVD’s.
Please,Please,Please,Please keep one if the funniest shows I’ve seen in a lo-o-o-o-o-ong time on the air. I am 64 years old and it is hard to make me laugh but I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
We LOVE the show! We had just discovered it in the last few weeks of the summer season and could not wait until Monday night to see the next episode. We are not avid TV watchers but the “Good Guys” is the best series show that we have seen in a long time! PLEASE continue to broadcast the “Good Guys”
Thank you.
I love this show… but hey, I loved Reba too and they ditched that one.
This is one of the best acted and written shows on TV. I laugh several times a day just thinking about Bradley Whitford standing in bikini underware with his foot proped up on a chair, now that take guts. He is so funny in this show, its the best thing he’s ever done. He has nailed this character. We cannot lose this show! I know its different but that’s what TV needs. I am so tired of all these CSI shows that are on. Please tell everyone you know to watch this. Let’s save The Good Guys!
My girlfriend and I marvel at how witty and humorous The Good Guys is. The writing is dead on and well done. While there is a sense of deja vu in the style of the show, it has originality and vitality. The characters in the show are fun to watch. Bradley Whitford offers performances that should be Emmy-winning for years! And that’s what I think the future of The Good Guys should be. Don’t let the bad guys take it off the air. Push it hard and let people catch on to a great show!
Love the show…very funny. Keep it!
This show is one of the best new finds on TV. Dan is a new iconic hero and Colin Hanks as Jack Bailey turns in a performance reminiscent of some of the best of his Dad’s early work. The pilot was one of the best I’ve ever seen for a TV show, with endearing bad guys (the world’s Second Best assassin) and funny use of the good guys foibles and strengths. Keep it on Fox!
This show is hilarious! FOX needs to keep it on the air.
I love this show! i wasn’t thrilled by the promos, but saw a show at my parent’s house and was hooked. I am the key demographic – please believe me and keep this show coming! 🙂
The Good Guys is one of the best shows on tv. I hope that Fox realizes that with a good night and time and better advertising, the show will get much better ratings.
