FOX has decided to wrap their summer run of The Good Guys a few weeks early, on August 2nd. The network had previously planned to air original episodes of the Bradley Whitford / Colin Hanks series until August 23rd.
The series debuted to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.93 million viewers. The numbers have essentially fallen each week and hit a low of a 1.0 rating and 3.42 million viewers.
Despite garnering poor ratings during the summer months, The Good Guys remains on the network’s fall schedule. Original episodes will return to FOX beginning Friday, September 24th. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
FOX has lower expectations for summer shows but it’s hard to believe that the network is pleased with the series’ performance. It seems that they’re keeping it on the fall schedule in hopes that viewers will tune in on Friday nights instead of trying one of the other networks’ new shows.
By the time Good Guys finishes its summer run, FOX will have aired nine original episodes. That will leave 11 new episodes for the fall. The real test will be to see if the network orders any more. Right now, that doesn’t seem likely.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Guys? Do you think it’ll last to see a second season? Should it?

This is a great show. KEEP IT!
My whole family loves this show and we really miss it. Please bring it back. Brad Whitford is a gem.
I have no idea why I like this show so much. My wife can’t stand it but I love it. Dan is the man. My favorite is the episode with the Taser. I laughed so hard I almost peed my pants. I had it recorde so I could rewatch it and the DVR crashed so I lost it. Oh well. I hope it stays around.
Do NOT cancel this show, please!!! It is so original and funny. Our whole family loves Dan and would bum out if TV lost the ‘stache. If Fox is crazy enough to cancel it, I hope some other network would pick it up….one (like USA maybe) that will promote original shows rather than the same old reality/competition stuff.
THE GOOD GUYS MAY BE THE BEST SHOW EVER. PLEASE FOX, KEEP THIS SHOW FOREVER!!!
Please, put it out of its misery. Worst program ever!!!
Hey! It’s a great show! I’m sure that more folks will tune in in the fall. Please don’t take it off the air
freaken awesome show whats the deal with the end im sure lesser shows have stayed on the air. lol i guess its too much Texas for some people.
this is a great show! give it a chance! many people aren’t around in the summer to watch new shows. these networks don’t give any new shows a chance anymore. They should remember many great shows also started off very weak! ie; Everybody loves Raymond, Seinfeld… oh gotta go watching NCIS… another show that started off very weak and now look how popular it is !
This show better stay on, to paraphrase Dan Stark, “its the best show in the history of showdom!” I swear, in a sea of annoying CSI/NCIS/Law&Order/etc/etc/etc oh so serious cop/swat/prosecutor/csi shows that do nothing but piss me off, this show is one of a kind, hilarious, and fun.
I wasn’t sure about the show at first but I live in the Dallas area and it was fun to watch since I knew the area. It is especially funny when the get things wrong! Now, I am hooked. I enjoy nearly everything about it and will be disipointed if it doesn’t do better in the fall season.
Truely funny show. Please keep it on the air.
I love this show! It is so funny. My husband and I are faithful viewers! Please give it a chance! Save the ‘stache!
Good Guys is fantastic. People are away in the summer. How could a TV network possibly decide whether to can a show or not with the summer viewing audiences. When I think of the shows that have been cancelled, one in particular, The Unusuals I think it must be true – TV shows are aimed at twenty year olds with short attention spans and low IQ’s. Good Guys is funny, clever and well written.
This show better stay on the air!!! It is one f mine my boyfriends my sisters and many more fpeople I know favorite shows of all time!!!
