FOX has decided to wrap their summer run of The Good Guys a few weeks early, on August 2nd. The network had previously planned to air original episodes of the Bradley Whitford / Colin Hanks series until August 23rd.
The series debuted to a disappointing 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.93 million viewers. The numbers have essentially fallen each week and hit a low of a 1.0 rating and 3.42 million viewers.
Despite garnering poor ratings during the summer months, The Good Guys remains on the network’s fall schedule. Original episodes will return to FOX beginning Friday, September 24th. It remains to be seen how long that will last.
FOX has lower expectations for summer shows but it’s hard to believe that the network is pleased with the series’ performance. It seems that they’re keeping it on the fall schedule in hopes that viewers will tune in on Friday nights instead of trying one of the other networks’ new shows.
By the time Good Guys finishes its summer run, FOX will have aired nine original episodes. That will leave 11 new episodes for the fall. The real test will be to see if the network orders any more. Right now, that doesn’t seem likely.
What do you think? Do you like The Good Guys? Do you think it’ll last to see a second season? Should it?

I think that cancelling “THE GOOD GUYS” is BS. This show is so entertaining. I laugh my ass off everytime I watch it. Bradley Whitford is incredible. Colin Hanks is the perfect partner. Female ADA is sooo hot. Fox is messed up. The need to promote the show more.
I’m sorry I thought it was awful and I like Colin Hanks he was on one of my all time favorite shows Roswell.
The Good Guys is a great show. Silly for any network to expect high summer ratings.
This is by far the funniest new show I’ve seen in years. My wife and I love this show, and neither of us are fond of comedies. Most just seem to be stupid and unfunny. I hope this show stays around for a long time to come.
This is a “Police Squad” wannabe that consistently misses the mark.
Bradley Whitford is being wasted. He has done much better work elsewhere.
The revolver noises and gunshots between scenes is just annoying.
A series needs a lot going for it for me to watch it, and especially to care what happens to it. I love the Good Guys–the pacing, the humor, and especially Bradley Whitford. I guess some may be turned off by Whitford’s over-the-top character, but he plays him so well, and he’s a one-eighty from what Whitford did on The West Wing. That’s why I so thoroughly enjoy watching him do such a perfect job of bringing his character alive. And if you saw him prancing around in nothing but his green underwear with the flower on the back in… Read more »
I absolutely love this show. It’s a breath of fresh air in the midst of all the heavy crime procedural shows. I had forgotten how much I missed a good buddy cop show. I hope the ratings will improve in the Fall, it’d be a shame to see another great show gets axed before it has a chance to take off. I wished it had been on USA, paired with Psych on Wednesday nights, instead. Both shows have the same tone and it would’ve been much more successful. Pairing it with Lie To Me – a serious procedural show –… Read more »
Not too impressed by the first one, but now I’m totally hooked. Pure fun and escapism and who doesn’t need that in this day and age?! Don’t let this one get away…keep it going.
Our family loves this show!
We hope it returns and has a long run.
My husband and I originally tuned in out of curosity.. Wanting to see Bradley Whitford in a comedy role was intriguing…. The Pilot was not what we had hoped..but after that the episodes took off… We are just now starting to see some real interaction between the characters. A friendship as well as a real partnership is slowly forming. Excited to watch their relationship grow..as well and the interaction between the other characters. KEEP IT ON….. We love it…so refreshing..tired of all the drama and angst in some of these network shows. An hour of funny is not a bad… Read more »
LOVE the show, it’s one of the best things about FOX!!
Seriously, This is one of the best new shows Ive seen in a long time. No silly over the top social statements, no unbelieveable lab tech super cops, just really good fun and action.
Aside from the Simpsons, the only shows on Fox that are funnier than this one don’t intend to be funny — I can’t think “Fox” without thinking “Fox News: Fear and Bloviation.” Of course, I’m not in the target demographic, but what the hey; they can hit the Tivo fast-forward even faster than I can, so whom are we kidding? This show is a keeper. I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
My wife & I liked it a lot . Lots of tounge & cheek back & forth . Keep it around . Good show.
The Good Guys is absolutely hilarious!
