Tyrant was cancelled after just three seasons on FX, and the reasons behind the shocking cancellation have now been revealed. Bert Salke, the FOX 21 President, spoke about those reasons with The Hollywood Reporter.
Salke said the following:
“We knew after the second year and were really aware that for a show we felt so strongly about — and the fan base felt so strongly about — that the numbers weren’t commensurate with the base for the show. Nobody was more aware than the FX people and John wanted to get in front of it. Chris, Howard and the studio went in with very open eyes and hoping for the best. We were getting behind it the same way we do every year and preparing for any number of outcomes. There were no surprises.”
There is hope that the series will return. Tyrant is being actively shopped to streaming services. It could land on Netflix or Hulu.

I can’t believe they cancelled “Tyrant”! It was the best show on Fx. All their other shows are terrible! Not since Nip/Tuck has there be a good show on Fx. With Tyrant they finally had a great show. They cancel it and keep stupid shies like Baskets!
Please bring Tyrant back it is one of the few shows that was truly well done and worth watching great cast!
Typical TV politics–bad shows stay–good shows get cancelled. BRING IT BACK! Was it political? Wouldn’t surprise me.
This is such a good show, something that makes you think about things. Not much in the way of new series does that anymore… ie.. all the crime shows that spout the same thing over and over again with new actors. Please keep this show, I’m disappointed.

Tyrant what is a fantastic show everybody I watched on FX. I figured is the biggest mistake like you have other shows. Another show that you screwed up on is the strain I know more people who watch that and tyrant.
Great show give it a 4th season. Sponsors will be rewarded.
