Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

Seriously???? networks must be crazy !! it is my favorite serie I watch it from Venezuela and loooved it and all my friends too !! and how can they cancell it after thathuuuge and amazing finale of season 2 !!!!!!!!!??????
I’ve just finished watching the second series of V and went to check online what happens in the third series to be confronted with the fact that it was cancelled. I am absolutely sickened. It was a really great show! I can’t recall any TV series that drew me in with such a hot female lead! I love you Anna! But that’s not all V was about. I watched the original TV series and enjoyed it so much and the reintroduction of the old cast with the new was brilliant! The storyline was bang up to date and intelligent too.… Read more »
I am sorry to read that V was cancelled. I don’t enjoy reality shows, and enjoy good drama and science fiction. Lately, the number of TV shows I enjoy has decreased significantly. Caprica, V, Stargate Universe — all cancelled. I don’t believe there are many shows that I would make a special effort to watch anymore. Why did V fail? Probably because an intelligent audience isn’t worth risking taking. From a view’s perspective, TV isn’t worth the effort, either.
I’m. not. happy. I really thought “V” was done surprisingly well. I’m a super fan of the original miniseries and was dubious when this was announced, bt to m y delight I was totally hooked by the new “V”. I think that having a season 3 and tying up loose ends would have been a win for abc. Resolution is definitey needed here.
Damn you abc for pulling me in and getting me hooked – I seriously hate you.
This is just sad! Me and my husband loved watching V !
The new V series didnt even get as far as the first series did.
And the finale ended with alien ships coming to earth!
So I was really looking forward to season 3.
Man I missed my sci fi shows!
V, Flash Forward, Quantum Leap, The Outer Limits were my fav shows!
I cant forget Earth the Final Conflict! Which is very similiar to the story line of V.
I loved the series! It had a great story and reminded me of the first series.
Really angry!!! :-((((( What are we going to watch now? DWTS with the Stars who can’t dance???? :-((((
I just finished watching season 2 today. I’m really bummed that it won’t be back. I’ll be left to wonder what was going to happen next.
ABC, waited two long between seasons! I knew it would happen they held off season 2 forever! then they expect it to perform the same? ABC is just destroying itself slowly. This is why i refuse anymore to get into any shows. I don’t even try any more.
Now we get to watch another round of Snooky or some other idiotic b.s. Perhaps the public will boycot reality TV..
The network waited too long between episodes.. the audience simply lost interest. The show was great, I am still in love with Anna.. Had the network treated it correctly, given it a full season and not played games with it.. the show would have done well.
I am deeply angry. They cancel all the good shows?!
Although there were some major changes between the original TV series and the remake, I accepted these changes as this new series was trying to break into it’s own just as the remake of Battlestar Galactica did. I can’t find any fault with the series, just the opposite – I find the TV networks pulled off a lousy promotional campaign and over-extended season breaks between season 1 and 2. Fans rarely follow a show that pauses for too long and as a result many great shows are lost because of network mistakes. I hope “V” comes back as a made-for-TV… Read more »
This show was the only one that I would actually make sure I saw each week. All that reality and survivor junk – how could people really enjoy that! I am 57 and would rally get upset if I might miss it.
They messed up by waiting too long after season 1 and delaying the release of season 2.
consistency is important in television
