Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I was wondering why I had not seen it. Alot of people I know liked the show and were anxiously anticipating its return. Perhaps ABC should reconsider disappointing an age group that can afford what the advertisers are offering.
**** YOU ABC!!!!
More and more I am starting to realize that something drastically has to change. The time when some suits in offices decide what we, as an audience, want to see is no longer valible in this day and age. Series like V have a loyal audience. Despite networks messing around with timeslots. We buy dvds, we record them. I think it is time for a revolution in the whole tv, movie and music industry. It is time that the old suits are replaced with people who live in the 21st century. And start listening to their audience, instead of the… Read more »
Figures… Just as the V series was getting good, the television power brokers decided to drop it. Hmmm… maybe they thought that television needed another talent or reality show. Too bad someone with some common sense didn’t make the decisions. Our networks are dummying down the shows. Give me a good plot, suspense, and action any time. I don’t watch tv too much any more because it is saturated with screaming low-lifes accusing each other of cheating, etc. , with travisties that sell themselves as real court hearings, and with reality shows revealing the baser side of our society via… Read more »
Thank God there are plenty of other networks to watch-ABC can shove it!!!!! V was a great show-ABC screwed it up with there timing.
**** you ABC. You only care about money. You don´t care about the fans or about the histories on the shows. So. I will not see ABC anymore!
excellent premis. terrible writers. they did not think this through and did a huge injustice. This show has soooooo much amazing potential. I have so many wonderful ideas so if ABC wises up and fires those ill-fated wiriters, hire me! Also terrible for a network to start a series and end it mid season, expecting viewers to return in January?! Towards the end I could tell somene was on a good path, but they destroyed the ending. Still, why not a season 3? I guess the 5.1 million of us watching the show do not deserve that courtesy from the… Read more »
They will constantly cancel good shows like this because America is obsessed with lame ass reality shows that are much cheaper to produce. Which is why I stopped watching broadcast tv pretty much all together.
I sure agree that those lame ass reality shows that are cheaper to produce as been the demise of broadcast TV. I just don’t see how they keep producing these stupid shows. Most people I’ve talked to regarding this subject agree with me. Someone somewhere must be watching, it’s not me. Thank God for the DVD player. Does anyone watch broadcast TV on the weekends??? Can you believe it, “paid commercials” during the day and into the evenings. I won’t even bother turing on broadcast TV on the weekend at all unless I want to watch the news but that’s… Read more »
**** you ABC!!!!!
Very dissapointed that the season was cancelled. Hope another station will gamble and pick it up you got b.s. like trueblood on its fourth season……..the sex scenes are cool but that’s about it the storyline sucks.
I think it did poorly because season 1 aired. Then there was a long interval before season 2 began, which was much better than season 1. I would have forgotten about the series completely after season 1 if it wasn’t scheduled as a season pass in my Tivo and started recording again. They shot themselves in the foot on that one.
I agree. It’s like they wanted it to fail. There was way too much time in between seasons.
Not right. I want to see what happens next. Bring it back, please.
It’s sad they cancelled V at the point where it was getting really good. Hopefully, they will do a movie of the week or mini-series of the week to wrap up the loose ends left by the cliffhanger. One can only hope.
I TiVo season two and finally watched all the episodes back to back this month (July). DAMN, this season was really good! I feel bad that I didn’t watch it every week while it was on to help ratings. I can’t believe they killed off some of the major characters…BOLD! The cliffhanger left me wanting more and now I’m sad to learn the show is cancelled. Well, I’m not totally surprised. I wasn’t crazy about how the first season started, but loved how it ended. And I really enjoyed season two…although it should’ve had more action and less espionage. I… Read more »
I really liked this show. I still have the recording of the last episode and was eagerly looking forward to the next series which I figured would wrap it up. Seems unfair since you killed off Erica’s husband and son and now we don’t get to see Anna get her just desserts. Or let all those desperate, gullible people see the Alien visitors in their true form. You could have just finished it off over the summer when boring reruns take over. Well, looks like the Alien visitors won afterall.
