Sadly, the Visitors aren’t among us any longer. After two short seasons, ABC has cancelled their V TV series.
A reimagining of the original V, this series tells the tale of what happens when an advanced alien race arrives of Earth professing their desire to help mankind. Fortunately, not everyone trusts them. The second season features the talents of Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Joel Gretsch, Laura Vandervoort, Logan Huffman, Morena Baccarin, Morris Chestnut, and Scott Wolf.
For season one, V ended up averaging a 2.25 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 5.7 million average viewers. It was “on the bubble” but ended up being renewed for a 13 episode second season. The network was hoping that the show would catch on and the ratings would improve.

ABC later reduced the episode order to just 10 installments and debuted them mid-season. Unfortunately, ABC’s gamble didn’t pay off. Season two of V ended up averaging only a 1.9 in the demo and 5.49 million viewers.
Though the network and producers maintained that the show was still in contention for next season, it was clear that there would only be a third season of V if ABC was willing to gamble once again. In the end, they weren’t.
ABC confirmed today that V has been cancelled after two seasons and 22 episodes. The series finale aired on March 15th and, unfortunately, there were lots of unresolved cliffhangers. Hopefully the producers will someday share what they had in mind for season three.
What do you think? Are you sad that V won’t be returning next season? Why do you think the series didn’t catch on?

I came onto series late. I was a die hard fan of 80s series and couldn’t imagine an improvement. I decided to give it a try. They honored the 80s series, bringing back old characters and developed scripts better than original. Amazing job and now its cancelled? Would syfy pick it up? Somebody start a protest.
please think about it again and again …
we need you to complete this series 🙁
there’s lots of people want it ! and look at the vote !
i’m so sad 🙁
I’m an afternoon drive radio personality in a top 10 market and was a huge supporter of V. Such a waste to not renew. It was a show that could have caught on huge! #1 mistake is that the seasons were too short…. but if given time it would have been huge. Great story. Very disappointed. Was one of only a couple shows I looked forward to watch and was really starting to share my excitement on air.
I almost don’t want to watch anymore of these network shows for that reason. They need to finish them or not even start them to begin with. It happened with Surface! cool show now V and countless others WHAT A TEASE!!!
I agree, everytime a good non-reality tv series starts up on one of the big 3 channels, it gets cancelled before one or two seasons have even been completed. While mindless crap continues and leaves me wanting to cancel my satelite or cable connect and just continue to rent movies from Netflix, so I won’t be disappointed when my favorite anticipated series is cancelled out of the blue!
Unbelievable…..
Someone needs to lose their job over this decision. Nuff said.
I realize it’s too late to comment, but I just found out V was canceled after checking ABC’s fall lineup. I thought it was at the top of your shows. It’s unfortunate that the network can’t at least give a series an ending when deciding to cancel. It really makes us not want to watch another series and we probably won’t!
It seems like any show I enjoy and want to watch, no one else does. I’m lucky because I’m older and I forget all about what whould have happen next. The first V started with a mini series maybe they can end the new one with one, to finish up some things. Please
ABC, I gave decided to stop watching any prime time series you may come out with in the future. You start a great series, folks get involved, then you cancel it. Way to go ABC. Maybe another network will pick it up.
Unbelievable that ‘V’ is cancelled! The one show I set my DVR to record… and the ONLY ‘Big 3’ network show I watched! Thanks, ABC. I will never again watch a single show on ABC, much less let myself get involved in a storyline on this network again… and what did you replace ‘V’ with?
Charlies Angels?! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!
They lost me at the beginning of season 2 when they stopped streaming episodes on ABC’s Web site. Like I’m going to watch TV in prime time? Those days are gone forever!
Fashpoint, 3rd Watch, Flash Forward, Day Break, The Unit, V, Great shows – some fantastic – all canceled recently or in the past couple years. I know there not all ABC, but it shows mindless viewers are in the majority and networks will only play mindless programming. This will always be the case because advertisers will not pay for a show that only grabs 2 percent of viewers. It bites when a show like V is canceled. I’m tired of looking forward to a show’s season to start only to find out it will not be coming back. Or worse… Read more »
Another Drop Kicked Viewer » Flashpoint hasn’t been cancelled.
Admin: Sorry you are right about Flashpoint. I should have been more clear. Flashpoint hasn’t been cancled outright, but from what I understand it is cancled from CBS and moving to ION. Problem is nobody knows for sure if or when ION will be airing new episodes. The other problem is ION is not available to all those that like the show. So for some it might as well be canceld, unless they wait for the DVD. It also adds to my point about the big three pushing good shows away and moving viewers to cable networks and them not… Read more »
Don’t show 4 episodes then take a long break before the next episode, people lose interest. They did the same thing with Flash Forward.
Another network f…u.
I knew there was reason to not watch the big 3.
You stupid a……. Why can’t look deeper into the demographics.
I am not an 18 -49 but I have $ and spend them like crazy.
This is no Star Trek but it is pretty good space opera.
I’ll just watch SyFy from now on. They pick up all the good shows that the networks give up on anyway. Nice going guys for losing yet another viewer
