TV show description:
The classic game show, Family Feud, returns to primetime as a regular series. But this time, it’s hosted by The Today Show’s Al Roker and celebrity families and friends compete against one another to benefit their favorite charities.
In a similar vein to the original daytime game show, the celebrity families must guess the most popular answers to random surveys of 100 people. Examples of survey questions include, “Name a famous George,” “Where do families go on vacation,” “Tell me a type of pie,” and “Name something you eat at Thanksgiving.”
The first family to reach 300 points wins the game and goes on to the Final Round. During the final round, one member of the winning team must quickly guess top answers to five survey questions. Then, another member must do the same, without duplicating their teammate’s answers. To win the grand prize of $50,000, they must reach 200 points. If they don’t reach 200 points, then $25,000 still goes to their chosen charity.
Some of the extended celebrity families that have signed on to play are led by Joan Rivers, Ice T, Raven Symone, Wayne Newton, Bill Engvall, Margaret Cho, and Corbin Benson.
Actor Corbin Bernsen’s team (Bernsen, his wife Amanda Pays, and sons Oliver, Henry and Angus) plays to benefit The Rape Treatment Center at the Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.
Comedian Margaret Cho’s team (Cho, her father Seung Hoon, mother Young Hie, and family friends John Stapleton, and Selene Luna) plays to benefit the M•A•C AIDS Fund.
The team of American Chopper’s Paul Teutul, Sr. (Teutul, sons Paul Jr.and Mikey, and co-workers Steve Moreau and Ron Salsbury) plays to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation
Actor Christopher Knight’s team (Knight, wife Adrianne Curry, Adrianne’s brother Nick, Adrianne’s mother Christine, and family friend Andrea Brooks) plays for the National Breast Cancer Association and Precious Paws organization.
In the first round, Bernsen’s team plays against Cho’s. In the second set of games, Teutul’s team takes on Knight’s. Teutul’s team is the big winner among the four teams and goes on to play and win the fast money round.
First aired: July 29, 2008.
There hasn’t been any news of plans to revive the show.
