Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Wish Hallmark could do 1 more season to bring things to s conclusion. Such s great series!!
Cedar Cove was great. I enjoyed all three seasons. Wish it would come back
I truly think we should have more shows like this on TV.. Im tired of good quality TV ending before they really start
I just finished season 3 of Cedar Cove on Netflix and love the show. I am so disappointed that they just left us hanging. They should have had a season 4 and brought things to a conclusion. Disappointed in Georgia
Yes!!! Love the show!!! Bring it back!!!!
Are you kidding? Unbelievable! Good show and really looked forward to Season 4….Bummer!
Missing it soooooooooo much!!
Disappointed. My wife and enjoyed watching the show together. Too bad it ended unresolved.
Really bummed that there was no season 4, and no good finale…too many unanswered questions. I really wish they would at the very least do a movie tying up loose ends. Not happy with Hallmark, and they were my favorite channel until they cancelled this show.
Love this show!! So sad that after finding it on Netflix that it will not be renewed for season 4!!
So sorry that Season 4 of Cedar Cove was cancelled. We discovered the series on Netflix. If we would have known about the show when it aired on the Hallmark channel, we would have certainly watched it. This was one of the few good shows to watch on tv.
I just watched this show on Netflix. Everything good and decent ends and it’s very discouraging. I never realized it was on tv or would have watched it on hallmark. I was hoping to catch season 4 on tv. Guess that’s not happening now. I’m so disappointed.
Loved the show. Very disappointed we will not see what Olivia says to Paul !!!! It is very refreshing to have a wholesome show with a somewhat perfect town with all of the crime and hate in the world. 🙁
I don’t understand how many millions of fans you need in order to keep a quality show going. with the state our country is in I think we could all use a little more entertainment in our lives!
So sad!! Not even a resolution of the show!! Thanks Hallmark for thinking about your fans!
I’m very disappointed in the ending of this series. What a terrible thing to do to the fans.
