Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
Very very sad to find out today that Cedar Cove was not renewed. I thought the last episode with the cliff-hanger was very good! I enjoyed watching it every week, and am extremely disappointed that my favorite summer show is gone. Bad call!!
I just did a search because there has been no coming attractions airing on Hallmark. I am extremely disappointed. I watched every episode and was looking forward to continuing watching this story. Please consider bringing back this high quality show.
I never missed an episode of Cedar Cove. Upon searching today for its return, I wad shocked and disappointed to read of its cancellation. So many questions were left unanswered. Please bring back this holsom family show.
Please bring Cedar Cove back. A great family show, which is getting less and less.
I never missed Cedar Cove. I loved it. I will miss it and all the characters.
Oh noooo! I just did a search to see when season 4 would be airing and learned it has been cancelled. This was one of the few feel-good clean shows left on TV! Even my husband liked it. I could be wrong, but 1.6 million viewers seems like a decent amount. Loved the show, loved most of the characters. I felt the casting of a couple of the of the the younger women was poor – her daughter and the assistant DA were really weak characters. But then again it might have been the writing — they did too much… Read more »
I am so sad Cedar Cove was cancelled. It was a series that was filled with entertainment, humor, moral dilemmas and family situations. It was clean TV, like eating organic food, not the typical garbage on network TV.
Please bring back Cedar Cove, it is such a good show & I miss it!
I am not on social media so maybe I missed the December announcement that Cedar Cove will not be renewed. I am sad. This was a warm, intelligent script with delightful characters and relationships. Does every show have to be award worthy? I appreciated the chance to escape to Cedar Cove. It had strong women in leading roles and that was really important. I wish someone would pick it up. Hallmark is my favorite channel and I appreciate the fine programming. This was one of them.
What!? Cancelled!!! Truly disappointing! Bring it back please!!!
Please bring this show back. This show was so awesome. Replacing it with Chesapeake Shores, really??? Bring it back, bring it back. Don’t be like other networks and cancel a good thing.
I am so deeply disappointed in this. I did not even see the notification come up on Facebook, even though I am a follower of the page. I looked forward to watching Cedar Cove every Saturday night. The show characters were lighthearted, honest and kind. They touched upon true feelings and situations. Why couldn’t they have tried another night first, such as Sunday, instead of just pulling the show. Very unfair!
So disappointed to hear of this being cancelled. Have enjoyed every show – not enjoying being left hanging!
That stinks!!! Why bother starting anything when there will be no end!! I will think twice before watching Hallmark!!!
So sad to find out about this. I will have to find the book, hoping there is one. I do not think I will get that involved in Hallmarks series again, especially if they end when they leave you hanging. I ask, along with everyone, please do not cancel this series. 🙁
You can find Janet’s books at your local library. She has a great Cedar Cove cook book too! I am so sad about he cancellation too.
