Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?
OH NO!!! I loved Cedar Cove! Why??? It seems there are plenty of veiwers that want this kind of programming ;(
Was really looking forward to the next chapter in Ceder Cove, so sorry to see it gone. Please bring it back.
Very disappointed. Please have a finale to wrap up everything.
I am so disappointed that Cedar Cove was cancelled. I really enjoyed this series. It is such a shame. Please consider bringing it back for those of us who enjoy watching the type of shows that the Hallmark channel produces.
Oh, no! I’ve just discovered that Cedar Cove has been cancelled! It was one of my few favorite shows, and I was hoping it’d be back on this summer! At least make a movie to answer all the questions and wrap it up properly! I want to see Olivia and PAUL get together!!
I loved watching Cedar Cove I wished it would come back I would love to know what happens next please bring it back
Oh my just loved Cedar Cove. Faithful follower. In fact my parents, 84 & 90, couldn’t wait for Saturday nights. I certainly will NOT be telling them it’s not returning!!!! A finale is better than nothing. Very disappointed Hallmark.
Very disappointed…My wife and Enjoyed the program.
My husband & I think it stinks that you cancelled season 4,5 & 6 +++. We want it back. Just because some people want a lot of sex in shows, doesn’t mean we all do. We want good wholesome entertainment. You blew it for a lot of Christian’s! And you should be ashamed of yourselves!
Wow, Hallmark. Just wow. What a shoddy way to treat your viewers. You could at least have a two hour episode to wrap up all of the unresolved relationships. Very, very disappointed.
I like many others have been anxiously awaiting the next season of Cedar Cove and am VERY disappointed. At least have a final episode so there is closure to this wonderful show. I am a loyal Hallmark, Home & Family and Hallmark Movie and Mystery follower. It is so nice to have a channel to watch that has values. Please consider taping a final episode. FYI – LOVE!!! the new mysteries series – have read all of JoAnn Fluke’s books. Allison Sweeney is perfect for the part. Can’t wait for more.
So very disapointed. Really loved this show.
Absolutely loved this show. So very disappointed.
Thank you very much, Hallmark!!!!!!! NOT cool at all!! This is very disappointing. I was very much looking forward to Season 4 to start. I cannot believe that you can run all of the reruns of Network programs, and not continue with a program worth watching. Please do not tell me that you are taking examples from A&E. Please bring it back.
I’m sad to lose this series.
