NBC rounded out their Monday night schedule with a new cop series, Chase. Police shows have performed very well for the networks for years but how did this one perform? Is it a keeper or will it be quickly cancelled?
Chase follows US Marshall Annie Frost (Kelli Giddish) as she heads up the Houston Enforcement & Apprehension Task Force. Annie and her team (played by Cole Hauser, Amaury Nolasco, Rose Rollins, and Jesse Metcalfe) hunt down America’s most dangerous fugitives.

The premiere garnered a disappointing 2.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 7.3 million viewers. That put Chase in third (last) place in both categories. It lost a significant number of viewers from lead-in The Event — 36% of the demo and 33% of total viewers. It also lost about 15% of viewers in the demo between the start and finish of the episode.
While this is much better than last year’s The Jay Leno Show, this mediocre start doesn’t bode well for Chase’s future. If the ratings decline in week two, as they typically do for new shows, it could be in real trouble.
Based on this performance alone, it seems unlikely that NBC would bother ordering any episodes beyond the initial 13 installments.
So, what do you think? Is Chase worth watching? Do you like the show or should it just be cancelled?

keep it on—it needs time to draw the bigger crowd. In its heart it is a keeper
Chase to me is great. Plus Kelli is from Georgia and HOT!!!!!! Please keep it!
Chase is an excellent show. Please keep it.
I love this show! For one thing, it is refreshing to see a cop show without the sex/skin scenes. I admire the producers for that. I just like the action. My husband and I both love this show… we love Annie’s character as she takes risks and truly cares about people. She has some past issues to deal with concerning her father and I hope that is shown eventually. I truly hope this show is kept on.
I actually know Cameron Welch who works for the U.S. Marsalls in Houston and have lots of friends that love this show. I think it is fresh and has a lot of appeal. Too many cop shows just get tossed aside without being given a fair chance. They put several good shows on the same night and then leave junk for the other nights. Who decides this stuff? To lose this show would be a real loss, it has lots of potential. There is nothing I hate morethan getting hooked on a new show and it being cancelled, leaving viewers… Read more »
Feel free to cancel this show.
The show has gotten better as it goes along and I like it. It does have some great villians and lots of action; unfortunately, I hate Event, so I have to remember to turn and watch after Dancing with the Stars. I don’t understand why the networks put all the shows on the same night? Then leave you with little of nothing to watch the rest of the week? How can they really know anything about the show under those circumstances, lined up against Monday night football of all things and with a sucky lead-in. Stop asking people to watch… Read more »
I love this show! I’ve noticed a lot of good shows are getting cut these days, I don’t think they are given a chance. This show keeps my attention and has some good action. I think it is a keep!!!
I was actually looking forward to this show from the previews. I liked the lead character and was interested in the “story”. Unfortunately, within the first three minutes of the preview, it was nothing but blood and graphic violence. I was hoping for something that had more story and less gore, but I see they went the “shock” route. Disappointing.
love it!
This is the corniest show I have seen. They should put it on the Sci Fi channel and say Annie can read minds. A man whistles a song and she all of a sudden knows he is from Boston because they play the song during the game in a city he has not been in in 17 years. Plus she is 100% in her profiler. Just like last week with no real evidence she knew the man had packed his fiancee’s clothes without her knowing it and headed to Las Vegas. This is too corney. Worse than cold Case.
Why didn’t the people who put this thing together bother to do even a minimal of research on the series? They seem to think that every one of the five distinct regions in Texas looks alike, and that the people all speak with the same accent and dialect. The second episode of this fiasco is purely more stupid than the first. Galveston with an East Texas forest of trees? The US Marshalls doing a job that would be handled by the Texas Rangers? Even the Texas Highway Patrol uniforms were wrong. All in all, a totally unforgiveable lack of knowledge… Read more »
I liked it, but having it go against Hawaii Five-O at that time slot, it won’t last. I happened to catch the premier episode on Tuesday at 11:00 Pm on USA which worked for me. I did like the show; I just wish it was on at a different time.
Well of course it’s still early but from the pilot I say keep it. It wasn’t perfect but above average. Honestly I liked the Past life pilot better but we know how that show turned out. But this from Jerry Bruckhiemer, With the exception of Without a trace that went for 7 seasons he really has had a hit or miss career in tv. Of course all the C.S.I.’s doing great, but The forgotten, Killer instinct and Maimi medical all canceled after 1 season. So I hope this show goes on, but I think it could go either way. Just… Read more »
I must agree with the other poster. Why is it that all I ever hear when it comes to tv shows these days is ” I couldn’t care about the characters. No character development.” Well you know, I love a show that you can just check your brain at the door and watch the action. Why the hell do I have to care about these characters. I just want some action. And it always doesn’t have to be beleiveable. Maybe I just dont have the high expectations of some people and maybe I am the last of a dying bread.… Read more »
