While the news is not official, it seems the Conviction and Notorious TV shows are cancelled after just one season each, on ABC. The network’s press site has removed both TV series from its list of primetime shows, which makes it clear there will be no season two for either drama. In addition, previously accessible press releases, videos, and photography are no longer available for these shows.
Conviction centers on attorney Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell), who joins the Conviction Integrity Unit to keep her cocaine bust a secret. The ABC cast also includes: Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey, Emily Kinney, Manny Montana, and Daniel Franzese.
Notorious tells the story of attorney Jake Gregorian (Daniel Sunjata) and TV producer Julia George (Piper Perabo). Kate Jennings Grant, Aimee Teegarden, J. August Richards, Sepideh Moafi, Ryan Guzman, and Kevin Zegers also star.
Notorious and Conviction Cancelled by ABC
If and when ABC makes the Conviction cancellation and/or the Notorious cancellation official, we’ll let you know. But for now, it seems pretty certain these TV shows are cancelled, not renewed for season two.
A Look at the Ratings
In season one Conviction averaged a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.574 million viewers.
The first season of Notorious did a little bit better, but not enough to justify a renewal, considering shows tend to shed viewers as they age. It averaged a 0.86 in the demo, with an average total audience of 3.972 million.
Compare these ratings against the other ABC TV shows we’re tracking.
What do you think? Did you watch the Notorious and Conviction TV series? Should ABC have cancelled or renewed them for a second season? Let us know, below.
once again a network cancels shows with stories and keeps things like the bachelor and bachelorette. WHY?!?!
Love notorious..don’t cancel
I’m 63 so I know my thoughts are not worthy of network consideration. However, I watched both these shows all the way through. Enjoyed Notorious as an evening soap opera only. There needs to be at least SOME semblance of reality to the characters & the jobs they are doing. Conviction had some great cast members but again the scenario set up is so farfetched it makes the whole concept a farce. I don’t have an answer as to what would catch, and hold, an audience’s attention but there are just too many of these fluff without substance kind of… Read more »
I found Hayley Atwell’s character in Conviction extremely relatable in the ways of her personality and obvious psychological problems and was really looking forward to getting to know her character more in depth. Can also relate to the fact that no matter how smart she was, she was unable to cease her self destructive ways because that is so real. People who suffer from depression or anxiety or any kind of mental illness can’t always stop themselves from doing dumb stuff.
I’m a 20yr old college student so when picking shows to watch I don’t do so lightly since I have very little free time. However I absolutely loved Conviction and I’m completely disappointed that they are canceling it. I’ve watched season 1 about 3 times so far and I can’t get enough of it. I want and need more.
I agree, Caitlin! I’m a 22 year old female college student and even got my 22 year old boyfriend hooked as well! We were so disappointed to hear it was cancelled! We especially loved Hayes, Tess, and Frankie.
Please don’t cancel this show. This show has a purpose. We can right a wrong with today’s technology. The actors are great. There are not enough intelligent mysteries on anymore. This is a good show!
Loved both shows. Hate they were cancelled.
THEY NEED TO KEEP NOTORIOUS. IT WAS GREAT AND A WELCOME CHANGE TO DRAMA TV
Ditto to everything Saundra, Jose, Mark, Lynda & Wayne said. Ea. episode on both shows has a fine thread that subtly connects ea. episode which keeps you coming back for more as you get involved w/the characters, the plots, the drama and then WHAM! ABC pulls the show. Come on ABC – – bring these shows back. But in the meantime, like Jose, I’m done watching new shows until they’re on for at least 2 seasons, then I probably will start watching after I’ve caught up w/the previous episodes.
Seriously, I’m so sick of getting hooked on a great show only to have it cancelled by someone who still thinks the show Shadowhunters is anything but absolute trash.
I agree w all of the above but my 24 yr old daughter also watched notorious w me & we were both really into it . They should’ve given it more of a chance.
CONVICTION is far too great and intelligent a show to be cancelled after a 13 episode premiere year. Too many idiotic shows with no point to them get renewed. Sick and tired of great shows being cancelled, I have no intention of watching any new shows only to be disappointed.
Please renew both Conviction and Notorious
Ditto to Wayne P
I’m 51 so I don’t count for ratings and neither does my opinion. ABC sucks when it comes to this. It appears that they cancel every show that I like. Never give a show a chance and just move it around sometimes. They do so much to advertise a show and if the ratings aren’t great enough then bang, it’s gone. I am tired of getting into a show and learning the characters and then that’s it-GONE. ABC doesn’t know a good thing when they have it.
I also loved this show that ABC cancelled. ABC is cancelling to many shows.
I think I’m tired of being at the mercy of the networks because of agism. I watch all kinds of shows but somehow lots of them get canceled because I’m apparently too old to be considered part of the desirable demographic. Screw them. Agist creeps.
