While the news is not official, it seems the Conviction and Notorious TV shows are cancelled after just one season each, on ABC. The network’s press site has removed both TV series from its list of primetime shows, which makes it clear there will be no season two for either drama. In addition, previously accessible press releases, videos, and photography are no longer available for these shows.
Conviction centers on attorney Hayes Morrison (Hayley Atwell), who joins the Conviction Integrity Unit to keep her cocaine bust a secret. The ABC cast also includes: Eddie Cahill, Shawn Ashmore, Merrin Dungey, Emily Kinney, Manny Montana, and Daniel Franzese.
Notorious tells the story of attorney Jake Gregorian (Daniel Sunjata) and TV producer Julia George (Piper Perabo). Kate Jennings Grant, Aimee Teegarden, J. August Richards, Sepideh Moafi, Ryan Guzman, and Kevin Zegers also star.
Notorious and Conviction Cancelled by ABC
If and when ABC makes the Conviction cancellation and/or the Notorious cancellation official, we’ll let you know. But for now, it seems pretty certain these TV shows are cancelled, not renewed for season two.
A Look at the Ratings
In season one Conviction averaged a 0.65 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.574 million viewers.
The first season of Notorious did a little bit better, but not enough to justify a renewal, considering shows tend to shed viewers as they age. It averaged a 0.86 in the demo, with an average total audience of 3.972 million.
Compare these ratings against the other ABC TV shows we’re tracking.
What do you think? Did you watch the Notorious and Conviction TV series? Should ABC have cancelled or renewed them for a second season? Let us know, below.
I did not watch Notorious, but I enjoyed Conviction very much. I am sorry to see it cancelled.
Love notorious!! Wish it wouldn’t be getting cancelled husband and I were really looking forward to watching more of the show! Very disappointed it’s over
Notorious was one of my favorite shows recently. I am so sad that it may not come back. We need a better ending with some closure.
Conviction was a very good show – so naturally it was cancelled. Ridiculous.
both shows were great, people didn’t even have time to know about the shows. both shows were not promoted enough to be watched…how do you get a chance to be invested with a show when it only had about 10 shows and cancelled
I thought they were both great, sad they aren’t keeping them.
I watched every episode of both shows. I really liked both of them. I wish they were not being cancelled.
The cancellation of Conviction is disappointing as I really enjoyed watching the great cast.
This is really sad news to me, I have become invested in these storylines 🙁 & I am surprised that it has been cancelled. ABC should reconsider.
ABOUT TIME! The ratings on BOTH these shows STUNK. They should both have been cancelled officially MONTHS ago. Neither of these shows is going to be picked up. I guess most of you don’t pay attention to this business if you didn’t see this coming. Too bad.
It’s very disappointing to see yet another intelligent, character-driven show dropped in favour of shallow television made for people with embarrassingly short attention spans. Perhaps a more mature television agency will pick Conviction up.
Conviction should absolutely have a season 2. It’s an awesome show with a great cast!
I really enjoyed both shows and I am surpised that it may be cancelled. ABC should reconsider if it is slated for cancellation.
One of the problems with Conviction is that that the audience is getting tired with the main character being self destructive.
She was a complex and relatable character who was trying to become better.
i love these two shows i wish they wpuldnt canacle them
