NBC has made a schedule change for the final Sunday of May sweeps, May 18th. The network has replaced Crisis and Believe with an encore of The Women of SNL.
While the Sunday night dramas haven’t been officially cancelled yet, they surely will be. Being pulled from the schedule during the sweeps period — replaced by a rerun of a clipshow, no less — is a very bad sign. The move isn’t a surprise though. Both Crisis and Believe have been performing terribly in the ratings.
Crisis is averaging a meager 1.1 in the 18-49 demographic with 4.48 million viewers. Believe is averaging a 1.3 in the demo with 5.45 million. Both shows drew a 1.0 in the demo this past Sunday and have each dropped below a ratings point in the past few weeks.
Both shows were already off the schedule this Sunday and are now expected to return on Sunday, May 25th. They each have 13 episodes in their respective seasons. Eight episodes of Crisis and nine episodes of Believe have aired so far.
Hopefully NBC will run all of the episodes. Hoepfully the finales will cap the series in satisfying ways. Unless there’s some kind of miracle, neither of these shows will be returning for a second season.
What do you think? If you were running the network, would you cancel both of these shows? Do you think one is better than the other?
I think NBC isn’t take into account the fact that technology has changed how, when and where people watch tv. There are so many more people watching tv episodes/series such as Believe, but later, at different times, when they have time and not just when it airs on tv Sunday night, but rather when convenient from other source/sites that makes the show available to members some sooner than when NBC makes it available online, as there are also sources that make a tv/episode accessible right after the show airs on tv.
I couldn’t agree with you more! My husband and I record Believe so we can watch it together later that night. I wish they had a way of seeing all of those that do this. Technology has come a long way, why hasn’t the technology of how they do “proper” ratings improved??!!
Exactly, Megan. things have changed. many of us do not watch a program at the exact time it airs, we just don’t have the time, but we do watch faithfully and DVR our episodes or even watch on a later run on the cable free on demand program repeats, as soon as we have some down time. they need to find a less archaic way of gauging who’s actually watching. if the ratings are not sky high out the gate they are ready to cancel. reality? tv is a lot less expensive to run so that is what we get… Read more »
Please don’t cancel Crisis! It’s the best show on TV.
I love Crisis and Believe give them a chance I am very disappointed they are being cancelled every time a good show comes on they get axed why not voice or American idol you can only watch so many singers need more drama shows send them somewhere else I can watch and not watch NBC.
These shows were up against tough competition
The good wife, revenge and mad men
Not fair to judge these ratings
I dvr’d them and watched every episode
Crisis could easily end with the hostages being freed at the finale but believe can go in so many directions
The little girl playing beau is superb
This is totally disappointing that one of the best shows on tv is getting cut. It didn’t even say it was cancelled sunday & that made me & a friend really curious. Some people that watch it aren’t on social networks so they can’t rate it. Please give it a chance. Its one of the only tv shows I watch.
Crisis is positively one of the best programs on TV this season. It is a mistake to cancel it.
And this is why I very rarely watch anything on the major networks. The (very few) decent shows they offer seem to always end up getting canceled.
It figures another great show like Believe is getting the ax. I also watch Crisis. I am coming to the conclusion of what is the point of having a television when all the great shows are being cancelled? There is hardly anything good to watch anymore. Thoroughly disappointed.
Let us mount a campaign in Twitter so our voices can be heard loud and clear.
#NBCBringBackCrisisBelieve
Please do not cancel either show. I love them and feel that you should give them another chance. Maybe change the date or time but these are really good shows. Please give Believe and Crisis another chance.
Please don’t cancel believe!!! It is one of the best shows on t.v. Please give it another season.!!
I sure hope they bring the shows back. The only thing on The Sunday night schedule worth watching.
Cancelling Believe is just another reason Netflix will probably be the New TV. Nothing much left that is smart on television.
Please don’t cancel Believe. It must be on at the wrong time, it is so good. The last show really added some more depth. I love Bo, and many of the other characters. I am surprised it is not being watched more. I only watch Believe and The Voice. If it is not continued as a series, I hope it will be a movie with sequels. I think the show is profound, and yet sensitive at times. Great development of the characters, and the interesting theme of good versus evil. The director is the same man who made the movie… Read more »
I have all the ” Believe” shows on my DVR and today I’m watching them on Demand because I really missed it last night. I love Bo and Tate. Such a decent show. Everyone keeps their clothes on, there’s no bed-hopping, no filthy talk. Some of us out here just want a good, decent show to watch, about good versus evil, and people actually caring enough to help others. If NBC is not smart enough to keep it, then sell it to someone who will. I’ll watch it wherever it may go. Bring back Believe!
I completely agree! This is one show I can actually watch with the kids, I record it for my six year old to watch it Mondays after school. All tv shows now and days are full of sexual content and language, including Disney and nick where now it’s become a norm for 9 year olds to have boyfriend buds! This is a good family show and it really it’s a shame that instead of finding different air times it’s just getting cancelled! It really is a shame and whomever is making the call for this cancellation should take all these… Read more »
Let’s take it to Twitter and make it a global protest.
Let’s embarrass NBC.
Great idea! Although not sure how much good it would do. I doubt they even read any of this, never once see them commenting or even addressing their viewers which is the least they could do!!!!!!! So frustrated!!!!
Crisis was one of NBC’s best show’s ever. It rivaled Fox’s 24.
I am always looking forward on Sundays so I can watch Believe . Please give the show another chance . I love watching Bo , she is adorable. Each week , new episode gets better. I was very disappointed today when I found out that they don’t have it tonight. Please reconsider…
