A couple weeks ago, we reported that President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler said that the network had six leftover episodes of Flashpoint and that they “most likely” would air over the Summer. She noted that the TV show has been a good utility player for CBS but didn’t indicate if it had much of a future there.
CBS licenses Flashpoint from Canada and ran most of the season three episodes last summer. CTV has already ordered season four and those 18 episodes are currently being produced.
It’s now being reported that CBS has licensed seven of those new installments of Flashpoint, will combine them with the leftover six, and run the 13 episodes this summer.
ION has purchased a syndication package of the 62 episodes of Flashpoint, including the 11 episodes that CBS didn’t purchase. The cable channel is expected to begin running the series sometime after the CBS run.
This is certainly good news for faithful viewers but it seems like this may signal the end of Flashpoint on CBS. Fortunately, it looks like the show’s future isn’t dependent on CBS’ participation since CTV ordered season four without the US network.
What do you think? Are you glad to hear there’s more Flashpoint coming?

BRING IT ON. PLEASE DON’T DROP ANOTHER GREAT SERIES.
I love this show. I wish it would come back and stay for a minute. It is a really good show and I think that CBS should run the 4th season and all the seasons going forward. I care. It really is an awesome show.
CBS only has 2 good shows, NCIS & Hawaii Five-0. I think CBS needs new something and Flashpoint is a great show with a great cast. Get a grip CBS Flashpoint has great ratings and loyal fans. Not all of us can get Canadian TV and I am constantly looking for when Flashpoint will return with constant putting off of the return. CBS – you have a great show on you hands get rid of the stupid shows. All of you comedies are horrible. Revamp already
I love Flashpoint and wish a network would purchase the show to run it as a regular installment. There just isn’t any great shows on anymore…No good comedies at all and the reality shows are a joke…having cable with 1000 plus channels and nothing good to watch and you find a show that you love and it disappears….go figure. Come on Flashpoint fans keep the shows coming…Only good show CBS even has on is NCIS…maybe they need to do an entire overhall.
I like this show. Its ebtter than some CRAPPY sitcom keep this show going and move NCIS LA over to wednesdays at 8/7 p.m. it would better than watching crapp like the Middle.
WE LIKED FLASHPOINT AND HOPE IT STAY ON THE AIR ROSE
I have been waiting a long time to see flashpiont again! I consider it up there with NCIS, Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods,Lie to Me,and House. The Unit was an awsome show. Flash Point is relational, action, and was my favorite shows!!! COME ON CBS !!!!! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? OR WHO DOES THE THINKING? ANYONE THETRE THINK??? CRAZY!!!
I have seen the first 3 episodes of season 4 on CTV . The show just seems to get better from one episode to next one. Nina Tassler would know a quality show from some of the schlock that CBS has been showing. I hope she doesn’t schedule Flashpoint at 9:00PM Saturday night. That is the reason The Bridge didn’t do well on CBS. As a result there won’t be any new episodes of the The Bridge.
Nina don’t make the same mistake with Flashpoint as you did with The Bridge.
This show always recognized the cause behind every circumstance with profound respect and empathy. We need more shows like this one! CBS’s loss will be another network’s gain!
I don’t care if CBS is too stupid to want all the episodes! I will happily watch them wherever I can find them. It is a great show!
“Fortunately, it looks like the show’s future is dependent on CBS’ participation” doesn’t make sense in the context of the rest of the article. Perhaps you meant: “Fortunately, it looks like the show’s future is independent of CBS’ participation”.
It would be a shame if CBS doesn’t purchase the last 11 episodes, but at least many of us will get to watch them via other means. I find it very interesting that Ion has already purchased syndication rights for all Flashpoint episodes.
@David: Thanks for catching that. I meant “isn’t” instead of “is.”
I am rethinking my CBS loyalty. After all the great reviews Flashpoint has gotten and is still getting,. I can’t believe CBS is being so stubborn as not to see what’s right in front of their faces. Fashpoint is one of the better shows right up their with NCIS, Hawaii 50 etc. If they (CBS) had advertised Flashpoint the way they did so much for their other shows Flashoint would be as well recognized as all their other hit shows. Flashpoint is a wonderful drama with great writing with knowledge of a real “SWAT” team and not to mention the… Read more »
As long as I can watch it I don’t care who shows it.But CBS is stupid not to pick up all the episodes.
As long as I can find them to watch, I won’t complain about CBS not picking them up… It is a shame though! Flashpoint is consistently a great show. Will miss it!
this series comes back and leaves more than any show ever
