CBS has been having a great season. Several of their new shows have been successful and many of their established series are still doing well. Unfortunately, that could be bad news for fans of a little show called Flashpoint.
Flashpoint follows the work of a group of highly trained police officers called the Strategic Response Unit (SRU). The series stars Enrico Colantoni, David Paetkau, Hugh Dillon, Sergio Di Zio, Michael Cram, Mark Taylor, Ruth Marshall, and Amy Jo Johnson.
The show was initially produced for Canada’s CTV and CBS picked up the rights to air season one during the writers strike. It ended up performing well for the network and that led CBS to join CTV in renewing it for seasons two and three.

Season three of Flashpoint was supposed to begin airing early this year but the network has so much successful programming that the show still hasn’t been put back on the schedule.
Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, recently told critics at the TCA press tour that Flashpoint was now being pushed outside the regular season. That means that the cop series won’t be back until late-Spring or Summer 2010 at the earliest.
While the show has performed well during the summer months in the past, there’s no guarantee that will continue. The show will have been off the air for almost a year by the time it returns. The longer that the show is off the air, the more likely that viewers — and TV executives — will forget about it.
What do you think? Do you think that CBS will air all 22 episodes of Flashpoint? Do you think that being off the air for so long hurts the show’s chance for a fourth season?

This is a great show- If you want to cancel shows then how about the reality garbage that the networks subject us to every week.
I just LOVE THIS SHOW! I PRAY the don’t cancel this show. If they do, it will be yet another great show cancelled. I love the writing, I love the team, love absolutely everything about it! Can’t wait for Friday nights to get here to see it.
Please keep the show alive and going! You have loyal watchers in this home!
DON’T CANCEL FLASHPOINT !!!! This is one of the best shows I have ever seen in a long time….well written and suspenseful…I really love this show….my whole family does…
MY HUSBAND AND I LOVE FLASHPOINT ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS IN A WHILE HOLDS YOUR INTEREST THE WHOLE TIME FROM BEGINNING TO THE END. I DO AGREE THE LONGER THE SHOW IS OFF THE AIR THE MORE PEOPLE WILL FORGET IT AND TURN TO SOMETHING ELSE TO WATCH IN THAT TIME SLOT. THE SAME HAPPENNED WITH THE SOPRONOS I NEVER WENT BACK TO IT AGAIN I GOT TIRED OF THE WAIT. I AN HOPING YOU BRING IT BACK THANK YOU BONNIE AND MANNY
Well, once again the writers of Flash Point spun the tail on Enrico Colantoni aka: Greg Parker. He had the story turned around on him so that he could see it from a different perspective. The Writers had him by the end of the show, scratching his head and looking at Hugh Dillon, aka: Ed Lane for some more advice. “Go to Dallas to visit your own kid with a battering ram or a lawyer.” I love this show.
Blessing, Cynthia
This is by far the best depiction of modern day law enforcement that I’ve seen. The writing, acting and directing truly reflect the side of human tradegy as well as the ups and downs experienced by the professional men and women of law enforcement. It is wonderful to tune in and watch this show as compared to Rockie Blue (ABC) which the worst depiction of law enforcement. I know having spent 35 years in the profession. Keep Flashpoint on the air.
I think this show is excellent, the right amount of suspense, touching moments, it’s a top notch series and I hope it continues for many years to come. It’s a Canadian series and they know how to make shows there, I was sorry when they decided to cancel ‘The Border’, that too was another excellent Canadian series. I hope someone decides to pick that up and continue with that show and I don’t want this one cancelled. It’s not often we get a series this good.
This show is so good! I don’t know about anyone else but if it means i have to wait all year to watch it i will. But it would be nice if i didn’t have to:)
I love this show.
I watched this weeks episode, Enrico Colantoni, aka: Greg Parker, was kidnaped and tided to a explosive methlab. OMG! You’ve got to be keeping up with this baby. It’s some of the best mind stretching, thought provoking writing and acting on TV Friday nights. Keep it up. Please! The twist and turn in this did Hugh Dillon, aka: Ed Lane a marvelous job in saving his friend and boss, but the story didn’t stop there. The real one two punch came from Amy Joe, aka: Jules, who cut him to the quick with a strong talking to. Wow. Blessing, Cynthia
This is the best police drama to come along in a long long time. and I been around since
Peter Gunn. Please move it to primetime in the fall. It will bury those other police shows. My hats off to cast&crew and the writers. They know just when to push your buttons. And Toronto films beautiful. Please don”t take this terrific show off the air.
This is one of those shows that I don’t mind letting my 10 year old son watch with me. This show has the right amount of suspense that does not go over the edge. It is the type of show thtat allows the audience to become of part of the action without the blood and gore pushing half the audience away. It’s only downfall is the time that it is on tv. They have to look at who the target audience is and adjust for it. Afterall in my opinion it is the family show with action, suspense, drama and… Read more »
I think it should stay on regular programing because it is an excellent family show. Having said that, what the watchers want is seldom what they get. So here our last hope, I think summer programming is a great idea because we’re not left with reruns as our only choice. Summer programing is already working for several cable channels. The Closer on TNT, Burn Notice on USA, America’s Got Talent on NBC, so yes I think it could work as long as CBS wants it to work. There’s the rub and we already know for some reason CBS does not… Read more »
Oh my, this last week in the third season Hugh Dillon aka. Ed Lane, is having a baby with his wife Sophy. Is that good writing, or what? OMG! They waited till the last shot in the show to spill the beans. Wow. I’m hooked. See ya, next week.
Blessing, Cynthia
Simply said,Its a great well written show. Unexpected twists and suspence. Yes, and some tears. It’s the best show in a long time to come along.
