It looks like fans of Frequency are out of luck. Deadline reports The CW has cancelled the TV show after only one season.
Based on the 2000 movie of the same name, the drama revolves around a young police detective (Peyton List) who manages to communicate with her deceased father (Riley Smith) through time but there are serious and unforeseen consequences to her actions. The cast also includes Devin Kelley, Anthony Ruivivar, Mekhi Phifer, Lenny Jacobson, and Daniel Bonjour.
It was only a matter of time before The CW cancelled Frequency. Season one of the series delivered poor ratings, earning an average of .27 in the 18-49 demo and only 936,000 viewers. These numbers made the freshman series one of the network’s lowest-rated and least-watched shows for the 2016-2017 season.
There was a chance for a renewal if Frequency performed well on Netflix, but it seems that did not happen. Instead, The CW has decided to move on. The network has also cancelled No Tomorrow after one season. Details here.
What do you think? Did you watch Frequency? Do you think it should’ve been renewed?
I LOVED that show. The actors/actresses played their roles so well. I loved the original movie so I guess this tv show kept that thrill going. I am totally disappointed.
Wow I’m actually really disappointed that Frequency is being cancelled!!! My husband and I watched it together and loved it. We were actually looking forward to season 2. I watch the movie years ago and loved it so when I saw the show on Netflix I didn’t think twice about watching it and I wasn’t disappointed. I wish y’all wouldn’t have given up so easily on it. Maybe it should be a Nexflix original instead. The only reason I didn’t know about it even though I have cable is because my channel stays on Disney or Nick, I have 4… Read more »
The show had great writing, and solid acting. No weak characters, and a compelling storyline. I can understand the cancellation — the radio is broken, the dirty boss is (probably) dead, and now both Raimi’s parents are alive — so the time machine prop, and most of the sources of plot tension are gone. They could have done a 2nd season twist where the Nightingale kills Raime in the present, and Frank is then on the hook to track him down in the past to fix the present.– lots of tension in that premise, but no inter-decade dialog and the… Read more »
Won’t ever be watching another show on the CW.
l loved this show and sad to see another good show gone… Happens too “frequently” now a days….
Omg please do season two I loved this show and I cannot believe how it ended I need more!!
Never heard of it before Netflix. But of course I loved it so it’s , unfortunately … gone. Maybe it’ll make a comeback but….

If they hadn’t made the characters so angry with life and each other… more like the close family from the movie… then the series might have worked. It was sad to see one of my favorite movies turned into so many depressing episodes that even the past-future time element couldn’t help! If you use the same premise… don’t mess with what works.
This sucks. I really enjoyed Frequency and love the concept and I wanted to see the story continue on and see them finally capture the Nightingale killer. Loved the dynamic between Rami and Frank. Ever since it ended, I’ve been waiting for them to announce season 2 but this happens. Wishful thinking that it might get picked up somewhere but I doubt it. Its too bad.
I really am so sad to hear that Frequency won’t be returning for Season 2. I really enjoyed this show. Wish another channel would pick this up, or maybe Netflix??
Love the show. Upset to hear the won’t be a season two.
I loved it. It was a show that was different then any other. So sick of the same old police shows. Bring it back!!!
This is a crime, Frequency is amazing and I need more!
I really liked Frequency. Waaaaa
