It looks like fans of Frequency are out of luck. Deadline reports The CW has cancelled the TV show after only one season.
Based on the 2000 movie of the same name, the drama revolves around a young police detective (Peyton List) who manages to communicate with her deceased father (Riley Smith) through time but there are serious and unforeseen consequences to her actions. The cast also includes Devin Kelley, Anthony Ruivivar, Mekhi Phifer, Lenny Jacobson, and Daniel Bonjour.
It was only a matter of time before The CW cancelled Frequency. Season one of the series delivered poor ratings, earning an average of .27 in the 18-49 demo and only 936,000 viewers. These numbers made the freshman series one of the network’s lowest-rated and least-watched shows for the 2016-2017 season.
There was a chance for a renewal if Frequency performed well on Netflix, but it seems that did not happen. Instead, The CW has decided to move on. The network has also cancelled No Tomorrow after one season. Details here.
What do you think? Did you watch Frequency? Do you think it should’ve been renewed?
This was the best new show in 2016. Underrated because the show wasn’t marketed correctly. Should have been marketed on the channels like USA, TBS, MTV and Freeform to capture the cop/mystery fans that like Law & Order, Supernatural, Pretty Little Liars, NCIS, Dr. Who, Bones, etc. The trailers for the show did not come up often enough. This could really be an amazing show still. Un-cancel it because it will do well. Fire your marketer and start a season two. Please.
Yup I never saw any promos I stumbled on it in Netflix I clicked on it by accident and kept watching it, I couldn’t believe it was that good, nobody I know has ever heard of it and if they did I know they’d be addicted!
Frequency was my favorite new show of the season–I looked forward to it for the storyline, suspense, casting, acting–it was a well-done show. Sadly, there are just too darned many show out there–had I not stumbled upon a promo for this one, the same day it debuted, I might have never known about it. Disappointed it has been cancelled!
We enjoyed watching Frequency and are disappointed there is not going to be another season!!!
I think in my opinion frequency is one of the best tv shows that has aired to Netflix’s , the back and forth or time zones to the always wanting to know what happens next there wasn’t one stage of the season where I lost interest. There was so much room for a second season and delivering entertainment such as “frequency ” should be enough for CW to release another season give the fans what they want .everyone likes differently tv shows it wasn’t a flop it was quiet enjoyable and anyone who watched it from start to end will… Read more »
Dexter, they cancelled Dexter… How could I forget?
CW has disappointed me on so many levels, cancelled so many of my favorite shows and Frequency was a hit to the stomach, I loved the TV Show, it was bloody brilliant, it was unique and special in a way, why did it get such poor rating? I don’t understand, CW had a opportunity and they like always, ruin it. I hope in the not so near future CW goes bankrupt for all the things that it did, it doesn’t deserve any cent that it’s earning, it’s complete rubbish now, like Flash, a kid show that is nothing but boring.… Read more »
I am in tears. This was my favorite show. I am so disappointed. I hate the CW now
Please don’t cancel this show! It was on of the few great programs on TV.
What can we do to make sure that his does not happen?
PLEASE LET SEASON 2 AIR!!! AT LEAST LET US KNOW WHAT THE HELL HAPPENS WITH THE NIGHTINGALE
Frequency should have a season 2 on Netflix
Please, please don’t cancel! The best series going, and my family loves it! A lot of viewers of sorts obviously haven’t seen it yet, or else it would be an ongoing great sci-fi series. The best!
We loved it, please bring back season 2 on Netflix
We loved it can’t wait for season 2. Please bring it back if even Just on Netflix.
Really? They cancelled it? It was so good!
You guys never give a second season to see how it goes. I liked that show. I’t sad because it could of made it.
