Yesterday, we reported that Legend of the Seeker there were strong rumors that the TV show had been cancelled after two seasons on the air. ABC Studios, which produces the program, hasn’t made an official announcement. However, two of the show’s most vocal supporters have.
Actress Bridget Reagan (Confessor Kahlan) wrote, via Twitter, “Got some sad news that Seeker is no more. So sad to say goodbye to my NZ family but excited for what’s next.”
Via his own Twitter account, producer Mike Sussman wrote, “The quest is complete. Thank you so much to our amazing cast, crew & all our fans, it’s been an awesome two years. We will miss you all.”
What do you think? Was Legend of the Seeker worth watching? Why do you think the show’s ratings were on the decline?

I, too, am disappointed that the CW network is not renewing Legend of the Seeker. I guess it did not dawn on programming that the time slot they chose to air this program was pretty bad, not to mention, it was shown on Saturday night. Who’s home on a Saturday night watching TV? May be the powers above will reconsider there decision.
I think this sucks. I just recently started watching this show and LOVE it. Networks always drop shows that are great…a better timeslot and a better network could’ve saved it.
4pm on Sat, with no promotion to speak of. Disney-ABC bit it hard by not supporting this show. If it got just 5% of what Hannah Montana or these other crappy Disney shows get, it would be a mega hit. Too bad. Seeker is/was a great show.
I am angry and disgusted with networks lack of foresight and support for quality programming. Who gives a rat’s ass if show’s like Amazing Race and Survivor are cheap. They stink. No originality, no excitement, no surprises, no one cares. If LOTS had been given their time slot I assure you it would have done much better. But no, instead you bury it at 1 a.m. in the morning and expect…what? So because of your lack of brains, greed and refusal to support quality programming the fans are once again shafted and deprived of a truly great show. I’m ususally… Read more »
I discovered LOTS thru Netflix 2 mths ago and was immediately hooked. Never heard of it prior. Quality shows are hard to find with so many options on tv. On LOTS it seems the story line has over run its’ course lately, but I still wait can’t to see how the season concludes. I’d love to join the LOTS characters on future journeys. Maybe a 3 hour movie or miniseries.
time slot over here in uk is good its on syfy 7- 8 pm and its on quite a few nights in the week.
if syfy uk can show it and do well then i think (nay hope) syfy usa can pick it up.
i havent read the 3rd book yet but if its as good as stone of tears i wont put it down. i just hope if the show gets renewed by another company that they steer it back closer to the books story line.
A sad confirmation, indeed. While I won’t go so far as to say that *the* reason for the cancellation were deviation from textual plot, I shall say that it could be a matter that perhaps disappointed the “die-hard” Sword of Truth readers. However, the show at it’s core was a fair (note: not perfect) adaptation of the general themes and characters from Goodkind’s books: it goes out of order, makes up episodic villains, Richard at some point calls on the spirits (a statement never made in the books). The fact remains that the philosophical arguments, positions and rhetoric remains, and… Read more »
Great show. Why am I not surprised that the suits gave it the axe? I had hoped its strong international fanbase would have been enough for SYFY to save it, but, alas, twas not meant to be.
I mean season 2 will finish
Vincent, season 3 will finish it’s run, they’re just saying there won’t be a season 3
The show is on 7pm Sat, 9pm Sun where I live, but I hear a lot of people say it was on at unreasonable hours in their area. Personally I just found the show a couple weeks ago through Netflix recommends myself and became an instant fan. Yes, some fans for the books are not happy that the show deviated so drastically this second season, but many like me have never read the books or appreciate the books and the show independent of each other. Also there isn’t recognition of the change in viewing patterns: a lot of people watch… Read more »
I loved the show and am sadden by this. It was on at 5:00 PM on Saturdays here in Indiana, but I guess that is still a bad time slot. I wonder if they are going to finish season 2 or if they have finished. I hate when things get canceled with out them being finished. Ah well, guess I will have one less show to watch. 🙂
I think that the reason LOS failed was because it ventured way too far from the books. For fans of the book series LOS was an childish abomination lacking any of the an nuances of the books. I kept on hoping to see the growth of the characters in the TV series like they grew in the books. What I got was a simple wandering dungeon hack. It would have been better if they had not even said that they were basing this series off of the books and just ran with it as a new creation. That way there… Read more »
season 1 was good, it was different from the book but not too different however season 2 is nothing like the book apart from them looking for the stone of tears i found season 2 very boring and drawn out i think this reason has played a major part in the shows fall in ratings
I see two reasons for the shows failure… bad time slots (1 AM for a family show…come on people!) and a lack of stations airing it. If you check the stations on the official LOTS website, it looks like you need to be in a major market to catch it. Even with a legion of very avid watchers, most of us had to get our fix via DVR or Hulu. Now if ScyFy picked it up, my guess is it would have quite a following. I’m thankful for two seasons… we’ll watch them until they wear out… Here’s a cry… Read more »
