Yesterday, we reported that Legend of the Seeker there were strong rumors that the TV show had been cancelled after two seasons on the air. ABC Studios, which produces the program, hasn’t made an official announcement. However, two of the show’s most vocal supporters have.
Actress Bridget Reagan (Confessor Kahlan) wrote, via Twitter, “Got some sad news that Seeker is no more. So sad to say goodbye to my NZ family but excited for what’s next.”
Via his own Twitter account, producer Mike Sussman wrote, “The quest is complete. Thank you so much to our amazing cast, crew & all our fans, it’s been an awesome two years. We will miss you all.”
What do you think? Was Legend of the Seeker worth watching? Why do you think the show’s ratings were on the decline?

Legend of the Seeker has improved greatly in the second season, with the characters becoming more credible and the stories both more touching and funny. It seems as though, just as the writers have worked out how to combine their version of Goodkind’s books into entertaining colouful drama successfully, the money men have killed it. I want to see another couple of seasons of it and I’m really fed up that it has been cancelled. American TV keeps doing this: setting up shows, asking us to become loyal fans and watch/buy/support their products – only to be deserted by the… Read more »
Seeker fans have organized an online and offline campaign to persuade ABC Domestic Television to not give up on the show. A rumor has circulated that there may be a meeting in New Zealand on Thursday, April 29 to decide whether the show goes forward.
As I write this, there has still not been any official confirmation that the show is cancelled. The Tweets from Bridget and Mike probably reflect the reality of the moment when they were posted but fans have been gathering momentum across the Web in their effort to make themselves heard.
Legend of the Seeker was an incredible show, and was not given the promotions it deserved. I never saw posters for it, there were never advertisements or commericals for the show. Of coure the ratings were low!!! NO one knew it was out there until too late. I absolutely loved this show and looked forward to it every Sat. ABC and Tribune company are a joke! There is not a single show out there that I have any interest in watching.
They should have had some kind of movie or network special to let others know it was out there. I just discovered this series in the last few months and that was by accident. I have gone to Netflix and watched all the episodes from season one until now to catch up. Canceling this show is just the wrong thing to do. It would have had a better chance to thrive if it had been better advertised, I don’t remember ever seeing anything about it just catching it once in a while as I flip through the channels. The only… Read more »
omg i thought this was the best show in the world!!! i loved this show! i am so mad that its canceled, there are no good shows to watch! im so sad its ending
This is one of the best shows to come along in a while and I’m really going to miss it. I’ve watched every episode and the problem was the the did air it at a very late time slot. If they aired it earlier then it would have had even more fans, I’m sure of it. I agree with whomever said it should have been aired on the SyFy channel, it would have been a smash. That’s the main channel that I enjoy watching the most! I think they should give it one more season and either air it in… Read more »
I think its a awesome show the reason they have bad rating because they put the show in the worst time slot. Thast what hurt the show i think that SyFy should pick up the show!!
I heard the ABC/Disney wanted more for the series than SyFy was willing to pay. They weren’t really committed to it, it seems. So frustrating.
This could have been a great show if they would have stuck to the storylines in the novels and not embellished and added stuff to what was already an amazing series. The cast was outstanding, all the actors fit their parts perfectly. The scenery was awesome, ABC just had to take liberties with the story and ruin a perfectly good thing.
I think the reason for the ratings decline was the number of episodes that strayed from the main arc. The first season was about defeating Darken Rahl, and to my memory, most of the episodes contributed toward that end. This current season has had too many stand alone episodes that has nothing to do with closing the rift with the Underworld. Without a sense of accomplishing (or getting set back from) their main goal, gives the show a sense of listlessness that leaves the viewer without purpose. It is too bad that the Syfy network did not pick it up.… Read more »
I have enjoyed the TV series it is a shame that it will not continue.
This one i didn’t expect….
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
It was the greatest show on TV! They should have given it a better slot! I can’t believe they canceled it! Why didn’t Sify take it?
It’s too dark.
I’m getting to the point that I will go back to reading and skip TV altogether. It’s getting harder and harder to find shows I like and then see them cancelled after one or two seasons. I can’t stand any of the reality shows.
