We all saw it coming. One of the most anticipated TV shows of the new fall season, Lone Star, has been cancelled after two episodes.
Lone Star centers around a handsome conman (James Wolk) who lives a double life to swindle investors and an oil tycoon family. He starts to have regrets and struggles to balance both lives and keep everybody happy. Others in the series are Jon Voight, Adrianne Palicki, Bryce Johnson, David Keith, Eloise Mumford, and Mark Deklin.
The FOX series debuted last week to a very disappointing 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million total viewers. Last night, despite several days of buzz and campaigning to get new viewers, the ratings fell even lower to a 1.0 rating in the demo and 3.23 million viewers. As was the case in week one, many people who started watching tuned out before the episode was over. For whatever reason, it just didn’t click.
Lone Star has been cancelled effective immediately and the three remaining unaired episodes have been shelved. There’s no word if FOX will get around to releasing the remaining episodes at some point in the future.
Last week, the cast and crew were shooting the sixth installment. Production has now been shut down and it’s unclear if that episode was completed.
Lone Star’s spot will be filled by the season three premiere of Lie to Me.
What do you think? Are you sorry to see Lone Star be cancelled? If you watched, where do you think it went wrong?
UPDATE: Subsequent reports have indicated that there are six completed episodes with four left unaired.

Very disappointed that it got canceled. I really liked it so far. It had me interested just from the previews. Please bring it back!!!!!
This show was excellent. Seriously, I am a picky TV watcher and I thoroughly enjoyed both Episode One and Two. WHY FOX? WHY NETWORK TV? WHY AMERICA?!?! When we get a good show you are too ******* stupid to realize it.

I was disappointed that Lonestar was cancelled! Even though my schedule did not allow me to watch it during its television airing time, I would watch it on Hulu. If you aren’t going to bring the show back to t.v. at least show the other 3 episodes on Hulu!
Great show. GIVE it a chance
Wow! In two episodes they knew it was a bomb. I enjoyed both episodes but then most shows I like get cut, go figure.
I liked it and wanted to see more, not exactly sold on the main guy though.
Finally, something different and its cancelled! It is a great show.
Not the best writing, but it was different. Sorry to see it gone already.
Very sorry to hear about Lone Star it was great. Where can I see the episodes that where taped but not shown?
I’m very disappointed to see Lone Star go! I actually received a free advanced copy of the pilot in an issue of Vanity Fair and was pleasantly surprised – what I thought would be a typical melodramatic nighttime soap was actually quite well-written, well-acted, nuanced, and complex. While I would have been curious to see what the writers would have done to keep the plot rolling for an entire season, I think there was definite potential here. James Volk’s Bob manages to straddle the balance of an Ocean’s 11 George Clooney with a genuine likability that makes it hard for… Read more »
I look forward to this show and Im very sad that it has only been cancelled after two episodes! Way to give it a chance….At least play the remaining episodes online!!!
I am very sad to see Lone Star, such a good show full of substance and talented cast canceled. A plot a bit unbelievable , yet a story that immediately drew me in and so curious for more! I first heard about it on a public radio talk show. Not sure what was expected when up against Monday Night Football and Dancing with the Stars, both of which have huge followings. But only two shows?? Please offer conditions to give it a better chance. My husband really enjoyed it too, but we taped it with the Packers taking first spot… Read more »
Please bring Lone Star, the tv show back , Iliked it.
That’s bull!!!!!! I looked forward to watching it! I knew there was only so far you could go with a double life but two episodes!?!?! Come on!
I loved this show. Lone Star and Boardwalk Empire are the best two new shows on television. Great actors, character driven, interestingand original plot with loads of potential.
