As fans have been suspecting for quite awhile, the Mike & Molly TV show is being cancelled. There won’t be a seventh season but the sixth season of 13 episodes has been scheduled to start airing on January 6th on CBS.
Co-star Rondi Reed shared the details of the cancellation in a Facebook post:
Before you hear it elsewhere (and some already have) this is the Final and 6th Season of MIKE & MOLLY on CBS. It is also a shortened season (13 episodes) after the announced full renewal of 22 episodes back in March by the network.
We are done taping as of January 27th 2016 and I am not sure exactly when/if the episodes will all be aired. The network has it’s reasons, and I will not get into a debate, discussion, or campaign to get them to change their minds.
Other venues were explored by WB and Bonanza Productions (Chuck Lorre) after CBS announced their intentions, but did not turn up a future for our show. It is a fact and we have known for a few weeks.
I remain extremely grateful to have been a part of this and to have worked with a fabulous bunch of folks over the years. I have learned a lot about many things, including the Business we call Show.
Also grateful for all the fans and for the personal support I have received over the (almost) 6 seasons. Stewart Talent has guided me every step of the way on this journey and for that I am also forever grateful.
What do you think? Do you think that Mike & Molly should be cancelled? Would you have watched a seventh season on another channel?
Mike & Molly is one of the smartest comedies I’ve seen. There is so much crap on tv that gets renewed, and hearing of this shows cancellation makes me want to give up on tv altogether. Bad decision by cbs…
I have to laugh at the posters who say this a is a fresh, good comedy. Isn’t anyone else getting tired of the “doofus” man married to the naggy wife yet? If you only go be what you see on television, all males are incompetent and all females are nasty shrews.
Also, in the beginning, both Mike and Molly had failings and they seemed equal. Molly’s failings (over spending on credit) simply faded away over time while Mike actually got dumber with each season.
Boring, anti-male, tripe.
I like the show, but I honestly agree with you about those issues with the characters.
I am truly disappointed in CBS’s decision to cancel such a funny show. You need Carl’s grandmother to be on the show more often. Mike & Molly is the best comedy on today.
Mike and Molly is the best comedy on tv!!!!! Everyone on that show is funny!!! Please go to another network who will probably appreciate them as much as their fans do!!!
Please do not cancel this show! I love it! I love everyone who stars in it also! I was waiting for the new season and to hear that it’s not coming back is horrible.
I loved the king of queens and everybody loves Raymond and since we don’t have them anymore , we need Mike and Molly!
I was so looking forward to more! Lots more! I think it is a wonderful show and everyone, together, makes it work so great!
This isn’t really surprising, considering Mike & Molly is owned by Warner Bros. Television and not CBS.
Best comedy show in a long time . Makes me sad that they always get rid of the good ones. Hard to get shows that make you laugh your butt off.
Considering Mike & Molly is owned by Warner Bros. and not CBS, this really isn’t a surprise. Especially, considering they cut down the episode order so suddenly.
Mike & Molly deserves to end in a bad way. CBS still has a grueling prime time schedule that’s been going on year after year.
Gee, and CBS has so many funny shows. Maybe if they retitled it and called it either NCIS or CSI Chicago, it would stay…
Love the show and every cast member! It is one of my very favorite comedies along with Modern Family, Big Bang, Mom and The Middle. Also love the new show Life In Pieces. CBS execs (in my opinion) is the worst network for taking off the good stuff and leaving us with the crap. I would follow Mike and Molly wherever they aired it and this 58 year young person should matter but CBS doesn’t consider anyone over 50 to be a good demographic. Our opinions jut don’t seem to matter. I’m sure that the Good Wife will be next… Read more »
I agree w/most of your fav shows, Jo Ann We don’t watch Modern Family any longer. As for M & M, this doesn’t surprise me. Someone probably wanted too much $ to return to the show. I say give Vince his own show with a whole new family & have him go to the Diner that the other guy owns. This could be very funny!
I figured as much. Mike & Molly is usually one of the last shows to return to the lineup. So many new shows begin and are “shortened” then not renewed. Reality shows seem to be the ones to remain. Go figure. At least we will have syndication!
Probably the best comedy on TV now. I will miss it
this is a very good show which explains why its being cancelled
boo i like this show
