Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

GUTTED !!!
I am very sad that they cancelled Missing. I couldn’t wait until Season 2, I even got 3 of my girlfriends to start watching it. They didn’t even give it a chance. Just like 666 Park Avenue
No!!!! I love that show. Abc always does that cancels the good show well thats the last time I will be watching ABC.
Really disappointed 🙁
Loved the show!
This is what I think of ABC cancelling one of my favorite prime time series….Another. Bad. Choice
We are fans of this show and I was just checking to see when the second season began. I am very dissappointed that it has been cancelled.
I would really like to know how these ratings work. No one ever asked me! MISSING was by far the best show on tv in a long time. Great suspenseful story line! And the places we got to travel to every week!!!!!!! This show gets thrown off the air while stupid reality tv shows stay on. And so called comedies that I can’t watch with my grandkids. I just don’t get it!!!!!! Have gotten to the point where I watch very little tv as it is and was so looking forward to Missing’s second season. I’m just now finding out… Read more »
I really liked to watch Missing, very much.. I cannot believe the ratings were low and kept declining. Just like 24 and Prisonbreak, this Missing gives a great balance of excitement, story, cleverness and emotion. Why cancelled? Please ABC, work on season 2.
Love the show!! Very disappointed the show has been cancelled!
my wife and i loved this show. we only watch about 3 shows together. this was the best show since 24. it really sucks that good shows fall through the cracks when garbage like jersey shore, real housewives, and most other reality crap gets renewed for 5 years or more. there are just too many choices for viewers anymore. all the cable stations have series now. the viewership is so watered down now that ratings and shares are skewed. im so sick of good shows disappearing after 1 season. i love ashley judd too. i hope a miracle happens and… Read more »
I cannot believe they cancelled this show. I loved this show and watched every episode and could not wait to see the next season. This show was exciting and very well made. The actors were great and the plot line was fabulous. I agree with Carol’s comment about keeping all of the radiculous “reality” shows and sit coms with inappropriate subjects and getting rid of a quality show like Missing. Quality should come before ratings at some point. There had to be many people that watched this show. It was excellent. Very dissappointed in ABC…
We loved “missing” have been looking forward to seeing more, too bad Ashley Judd is great
This show was absolutely amazing !! I do think they should bring it back. I watched every episode and loved it.
I loved the show, great story and cast. I hate the fact that networks drop a show on simple ratings. This was much more interesting in the dang reality shows or the stupid comedies that refer to sex constantly.
I agree!!
I am so disgusted that ABC did not give the viewers the opportunity rate the most intriguing television show to date. It had drama, suspense, and a wonderful cast. Ashley Judd played her character swell. I loved watching this show. Bring it back immediately.
