Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

Shame on ABC to put such a quality, intelligent show up against Big Bang Theory and American Idle. At the very least you should rerun the series on a different evening. I’ll wager the viewship will increase. You put together shows for the “thinkers” of the population and put them in time slots where they will surely die. Wise up!
One of the best series I have seen since prison break. How can you cancel such an amazing show. Shame on you.
I cannot believe ABC cancelled this show. It is one of the highlights of my family’s week. It hooked us from the very first week. Fast paced, exciting, and just the story line is fantastic. I hope there is one executive in the ABC castle that will see some of us out here absolutely this show. DON’T TAKE IT AWAY> PLEASE
HORRIBLE DECISION!!! This show was fast paced and a great story line. Now were left with a cliffhanger tha will never be answered. There was so much more they could have gone into with the story. ABC needs to really reconsider this decision. Give me this over any reality TV series anyday.
I can’t believe you would cancel such an excellent show and keep all those RIDICULOUS reality show – talk about a bunch of losers – you should be ashamed of yourself – truly excitity show – craps all over person of interest, homeland and anything else you care to put it up against.
Whoever is running your joint should be SACKED for being such an idiot.
Give it a second season.
upset about the cancellation of Missing -great acting and drama -so why did it have to end the way it did??? should of cancelled scandle – oh no people would rather watch a president having an affair
I’m sorry that you cancel this series it is really good, I agree with the person that
person said that this show dosen’t cater to today’s mentality.
I hope you re consider your desicion on camceling this series.
I love this show. All the fascinating countries it takes place in. the stars are awesome!! You should have given this another season or two or three especially since Becca has been kidnapped!!!!!
Can’t believe this show is being cancelled. What’s ABC thinking? I love this show! It was full of suspence & action packed. I think ABC is really making a big mistake. Please reconsider ABC!!!
I cannot believe ABC is cancelling this show, love the show, love Ashley Judd, love Dak and John Carlo, seriously, there is so much crap on TV, this was finally an edge of your seat show. What are they thinking????
Awesome Awesome show! Can’t believe it’s being cancelled. This show reminds me of Alias that was an amazing show too. ABC needs to really think about this & reconsider keeping it on air. I couldn’t wait to see what happened the next week. If I missed an episode, I always watched it online. Please please please reconsider ABC!
Finally a TV show that was exciting, suspenseful, intriguing loaded with twists and turns and now it’s cancelled. Maybe it would’ve had a better chance if it wasn’t up against American Idle.
I watched Missing every week & just loved it! It was action packed & suspenseful. I am very disappointed that it has been cancelled. I looked forward to watching Missing every week . I feel strongly that ABC should reconsider another season.
My husband and I watched Missing every week and loved it. Ashley Judd is a great actress and the show was fast paced and interesting to watch. We are very disappointed it has been cancelled and believe ABC show reconsider and allow viewers another season to see it.
I watched the season finale last night. Amazing show! Shame on you ABC!!!! A very good show. I was hooked from the first episode. I agree when someone said it was probably a show that doesn’t cater to today’s mentality. I am tired of the ‘train wreck’ shows like bachelor, bachelorette, big brother, etc. etc. etc.
I love that show! watched every episode and was going to enjoy the new season when it started! so much for that!
ABC really needs to reconsider this! I’m so sick of Idol, DWTS, and was really glad when a “new” show with a different twist came on.
You really need to rethink your decision ABC!!!!
