Becca Winstone’s chase is over. ABC has cancelled Missing, their Thursday night TV series, after one season and 10 episodes.
Starring Ashley Judd, Missing follows a former CIA Agent turned single mom as she searches for her missing son in Europe. The action show also stars Adriano Giannini, Nick Eversman, Cliff Curtis, Tereza Voriskova, and Sean Bean.
Missing got off to a disappointing start on March 15th, registering a 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.60 million viewers. It was in third place for the demo and second place in total viewership.
In week two, the numbers took a significant drop, to a 1.6 rating with 8.81 million. Over the next several weeks, Missing fell lower and lower. The most recent episode hit a new low with a 1.1 demo rating and 6.37 million total viewers.

Overall, Missing’s been averaging a 1.5 rating with 7.70 million viewers. If they had more episodes in the season, those averages would surely keep sinking lower.
On our ABC Ratings Report Card, which measures the relative demo success of TV shows on the network, Missing has a “D-” for a grade. Of the 22 scripted shows on the network this season, Missing ranks 21st — just above the already-cancelled Charlie’s Angels remake.
With low ratings and steep declines, it’s no wonder that ABC decided not to renew Missing for a second season.
The series finale airs next Thursday and will hopefully include enough closure to satisfy the viewers that stuck with it.
What do you think? Are you sorry to hear that Missing has been cancelled? Why do you think the show didn’t succeed? How long should have the show realistically lasted — one season, two, three or more?

I’m very sad to read that MISSING has been cancelled. It was one of the best shows I’ve watched in a long time. Please reconsider and bring it back for a second season.
Amazing show! Action packed and full of intrigue! Ashley Judd’s performance was truly a tour de force and really the entire cast was terrific! The script was well written and full of suspense … so much better than most of the other shows currently on the air! And even though the original plot was concluded, another mystery began with the twist at the end!
Becca is “Missing!” This series should be renewed … at least for another ten episodes! 🙂
I cannot understand why would you cancel a great show like Missing. What an exciting plot! And you are keeping all the stupid comedies and reality shows that 14 year olds are watching?? Really?? If that time slot is not working; how about trying another time/day instead of just cancelling it?Shame on you!
There have been several programs that needed 2 seasons to establish viewers. This may be one of them although I don’t know why. Its an excellent program and such a refreshing change from all those singing and dancing programs. Whoever decided to cancel this program should be fired!
I can’t believe that the network has canceled Missing and GCB. Shame on you for not using the education you paid so much for. To KEEP such ridiculous and mind numbing shows as all the reality mess on TV , yet cancel the true entertainment shows is a stupid move. Don’t you get it? We are tired of reality we want real shows with real stories and quality. We need to laugh and cheer for the hero. Not reward the stupid in our society for having no education, talent or quality to share with the rest of us. Please, reconsider… Read more »
My husband and I watched missing every week and loved it. We couldn’t hardly wait a whole week to watch again. I think ABC should consider giving it another season with a different time slot. Don’t put it up against something like American Idol. Especially now that Rebecca is missing, we need a season 2.
Tooooooootally ridiculas that they cancelled this show! IT’S THE BEST SHOW ON TV!!!!
I cried when I found out ABC was cancelling Missing. I am not
a tv person per se but from episode 1 I was hooked. My daughter and I couldn’t wait for Thursdays to come to find out what happens next. I would pay to see this show, that’s how good it is. Please allow another season or two or three… Please please please!
I cannot believe that Missing is canceled! I love this show, I have not missed an episode & am disappointed that all that is left on tv is reality tv. This was a great show, packed with action & drama…..sooo disappointing to see it go!
Cancel Missing?:??? Are you crazy!! There is so much “bad” TV on TV that it’s ridiculous. Now you get a decent show on….worthy of people’s attention and it’s cancelled?!?!?! Those decisions just lower my already low opinion of network TV!
REALLY? I am so sad that Missing has been canceled! It was a great show to watch as a couple, providing the action my husband desires, and the drama I enjoyed. Please give it a chance. I think with a little more advertisement, the show would be watched by millions!
I can’t believe it’s being cancelled. It´s the best series I have seen for a long time. Ashley Judd is brilliant! Really sad about this…
I found “Missing” quite entertaining, and am sad to hear that it will be canceled.
This show was terrific. My favorite this season. Always had me on the edge of my seat. I think maybe why it did poorly is because it was on as the same time as the results show for American Idol. I think it should be brought back for another season. I agree with one of the other viewers; there are too many stupid reality shows on during prime time.
AGAIN!!!! Another outstanding show is cancelled. Someone needs to look at the rating system. It surely can’t be accurate.
I was so hooked from the first show that I had to DVR because I couldnt even wait in between commercials to see what was happening. I am upset that it has been cancelled. I don’t watch much TV, especially drama but I loved this story and the acting! I strongly dislike and am annoyed with reality shows. I loved that this series was about action and raw emotion yet not the kind of “drama”-gore of murders, abuse and rape like most cop shows out there. ABC- I am very dissappointed in your decision.
