Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
A cast of actors makes this show very entertaining. Both my wife and I think it’s one of the best shows available. Very sad to see a show of this caliber to be cancelled. Anyone for starting a petition drive to keep this show on the air? My wife and I will gladly sign.
I also love the show PARENTHOOD and am very sad to see it go. There are so many life lessons every week with this show, and I look forward to it, I pull for all the characters, rejoice with them and cry with them. I would ask you to please try to save this show, it is a good one. Unfortunately I am not in the favored demographic group of 18-49, I am in my sixties, but my voice should also count!
I love “Parenthood” and look forward to it every week! There are so many (so called) reality shows, crime shows and ridiculous sitcoms. I am so sorry to see this show end.
I am so sad that “Parenthood” has been cancelled. I look forward to it even though I cry at some point during each episode. How can a show of this caliber not be successful with so many really lame shows on.
Parenthood is my favorite show. The Bravermans represent so many real people and issues. The compassion and love for Max must provide parents with children “on the spectrum” with creative and loving approaches. Only one example of the value if this marvelous show. Please find a way to continue.
I love this show too. I think a previous commenter was correct, they should have never tried to compete with Scandal. I think it’s NBC that killed the future of the show, not the show itself.
Best TV show on TV. Should have never been placed up against Scandal! They should have left it on Tuesday nights. I have been watching the show since the begining. Love this show! NBC should reconsider as this show helped bring the network back! Best Family Drama!
I really love this show and look forward to watch it every Thursday! It’s about family and I like family shows like these! I hope and pray really hard they keep this show because it is so heartwarming to watch! Please please keep it for the ones who love watching it!!!!
I love, love love this show. I so wish they were not taking it off . I look foward to seeing it
every time it is on. There is no other show on like it. I love the actors and the parts they play are so real. Please don”t give up on this show.
Wish they could find some way to keep this show running. It is by far one of the best family shows on television right now. With so many sex-filled, foul mouthed reality shows on they could at least something for those who do no like watching the other stuff.
I would be so sad to see this show leave!! How could they leave us wondering like that, about all our favorite characters. This show is so real to life. I’d miss the Braverman family!
Do you who measure ratings factor in households that DVR a show and include those numbers in your overall ratings?
Parenthood by far is our favorite show and I’d venture to bet most families DVR it due to the time it’s on at least on the east coast.
I can’t wait each week to watch Parenthood. At the beginning of each fall season keep searching what time/nite it’ll be on. Only show worth watching if you’re like me and tired of crime / doctor shows. So so sad to hear it is ending
I love this show, I DVR it and look forward to when it comes on. I think this show is real life and we need more shows like this. I seriously cry everytine I watch the show, the acting is amazing!
Also how does the rating work? I never watch parenthood when it is on as I work that night. I record it and watch it later. When people record it, does that show up for the ratings.
Love parenthood. It is a great show. Great characters and acting. I look forward to watching it each week. I agree with the people who said, don’t we have enough crime shows. It is so nice to watch a realistic show without swearing and murders. Bplease keep this show on the air!!
