Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
I had written to you before but never saw it posted-I ABSOLUTELY believe Parenthood SHOULD NOT be canceled-it is a program that includes so many of the issues within parenting today, including aspergers, of which we have in OUR family. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL IT! THANKS.
I too am really bummed that this excellent show is being cancelled. It honestly is the only show that I keep cable television for. PLEASE reconsider! For that time slot, the ratings seem pretty good to me. It is a very high quality show. Keep it ON!
I am devastated to hear this show is ending. It’s real, beautiful and honest, without seeking to be shocking. PLEASE don’t end it. What can we do to help change this decision?
I am very bummed that Parenthood is ending! I love this series, have been following and never missed an episo since day 1. I wish there was something i culd have done prior to learning of cancellation. I would have walked the streets an advertised for this show to get the ratings higher! 😉 anyways still super Bummed! :'( :-\ :'( :-\
It is my very favorite TV show and I have not missed one episode! It should not go off the air and I have to wonder if NBC execs are aware of how adored by many this tv show is. I always watch after the show airs from my DVR and our those viewers even being monitored, as I feel if they were the Parenthood numbers would be much higher! The story lines could go on forever as there are so many talented cast members that the story of their lives could be endless! There isnt one cast member that… Read more »
I am so sad that this is the final season of Parenthood. I enjoy all of the actors, as they bring a multitude of talent to the show and make it seem so real. So, they go by the 18-49 age group, a group which is set on reality TV, and most don’t even know what a good TV show is. I started watching Parenthood in the 2nd season and have been a faithful watcher ever since then. This is a show that can go on without sex, foul language or stupid story lines…how many other shows can boast about… Read more »
Watched it from the start . Both my husband and I love the show. Sick about it going off.
My family absolutely Love this show! We can’t believe that it is actually going to end and we really don’t want to show the end! Please continue!!!!
So devasted this show is being cancelled!! It’s one of the few shows that both my husband and I relate to and enjoy watching together! I also just got my extended family hooked on this, I feel like it’s just gaining momentum! Please consider season 7!!
I have religiously watched this from episode one. I will be devastated if it truly ends after this season 🙁 The show is so raw and people really relate to it. Finally a show where not everyone is perfect!! Please reconsider a 7th season!!
I am so sad that this show is ending, such a good show! I think most people can relate to some of the topics of Parenthood.. Unfortunately people are more into the drama of the so called reality shows.
This is my favorite show and the first show that not only deals with real, life family issues but does the best job at pure authenticity and relatability. I don’t know why they are canceling it. It is devastating.
This is my favorite show. I just do not understand why they are cancelling. Give it a chance!
I am devastated that Parenthood is leaving! This is really the only show that gives a true to life perspective on every situation in families. It will not be the same without it.. very very disappointed and sad.
Amazing that a show this intelligent, on-spot with every emotion and every character, is going to be cancelled. It is terribly depressing to see more ignorant sitcoms shown – written by children – as they remove from viewing a series that provokes thought and presents a story worth absorbing. What is wrong with a society that chooses this way?
The writers of Parenthood know the issues of today’s parenting and MUST either have an asperger child in their family and have depicted it perfectly along with the other issues with the members of that family. It is a show that NEEDS to continue to go on with MORE publicity to gain more attention and help so many others. That show has helped me tremendously as I see most of those issues either in my own family or those close to me, including an asperger granddaughter. I am begging for the show to go on-we need more of these types… Read more »
