Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
Parenthood is the last show on TV that show goodness and love. the important things in life like family. They never poll real people or care about clean entertainment. My generation grew up watch shows like Mayberry , father know best, Happy days.We learned to care about our fellow human beings. The people you are polling for the ratings do not watch TV, they are to busy killing people on their xboxs games. The only TV they watch are dead people, zombies, blood and gore. HELLO they don’t buy the things you advertise. They all are living at home with their parents and… Read more »
Couldn’t have said it better!
To kill this series right now when nothing is resolved in the Braverman family is not fair! I think I’ll really suffer when and if the program is cancelled.
My husband and I have so enjoyed this t.v. show. We are emotionally connected to the show. We enjoy the real life stories of real life situations. Parenthood shows what people go through, they touch the heart of what all of us will face or have faced in some way shape or other. To see it be taken off the air is shameful, sad, and extremely frustrating….. The actors and actress are wonderful, their message hits home and they deliver a message that touches hearts in only a way that PARENTHOOD can!! They capture REALITY!!!!! It’s captivating, real, and HEARTFELT!!!… Read more »
I love love love this show!!! Hope NBC reconsiders and continues this great TV program.
I am just starting the 6th season of this show and let me tell ya this show is amazing I am going to miss watching it. I really hope they reconsider doing more seasons!! The thought of it being over kills me! *sigh*
You need to have some of these shows rated by different ages…of course the ages 35 to 49 are rating it bad because no sex ..no violence and crap in it…just good down to earth family stories….it will not be the same for my hubby and l now with this show gone also…almost ready to give up on tv completely….
My daughter is 22 and she LOVES this show as much as I do!
I just don’t understand how this show could have low ratings. It covers the relationship and emotions of three generations and it is done so well. One of my all-time favorites shows. Isn’t there anything that can be done to save this. I am 67 and my husband is 72. We can relate to al generations in the show. Just love it and sad to see it go.
My wife and U discovered this show while surfing on demand. It is our favorite show.
The ratings do not include people over 49. If they did, there would be a much higher number. The show us about real family life. It should continue. NBC should find sponsors who appeal to Baby Boomers and Senior Citizens.
I agree with the couple who said NBC. needs to poll older viewers,I am going to miss the show and actors very much.
Am soooo unhappy that NBC cancelled this wonderful family show!!! It definetly is one of the best shows on TV. Im positive NBC will regret their decision. Great cast and acting and I will truly miss seeing these people whom I now feel like they are family. Sooo sad!!
I will truly miss this show. It makes you laugh and cry all on the same episode. I have three children and I can really relate to a lot that goes on in the show.
This show will be missed. I know a lot of people in my age group (35-47) that enjoy this show every week. The ratings must only be calculated for the 1 hour that the show airs… not calculating how many watch it the next day or on the weekend on the computer to catch up.
I watched ER for years… I would have watched this for many more years. It is a shame that a good quality family show didn’t make it.
I am REALLY bummed out about this show ending. No other show I watch compares to my thoughts and feelings about Parenthood. The whole cast play their parts well and each family shares my interest equally. I always liked Craig T. Nelson and Ray Ramono and it was fun to see them in a “different” life. Thursday evenings won’t be the same at my house.
This is the best show on T.V.!! I am sooo sad it’s’ being cancelled. It is a show that so many of us can relate too. Guarantee the ratings are low because there is no explicit sex, violence, or sci fi action. That is what sells and that is a shame!!!!!$
I don’t understand the low ratings. One of my absolute favorite shows. I will miss it a great deal. If it was on for 10 more seasons, I’d still be watching if stayed as good as it has been. I agree with the last poster – Super bummer!!
Best show ever, so real which is hard to find on TV! They address and confront problems real families go through and its so captivating! Super bummer for it to end!
