Despite mediocre and poor ratings, Parenthood managed to escape being cancelled for years. But now, NBC has decided to end the show with season six. Will the ratings rise in the final year or will they drop even lower? Will they regret the decision? Stay tuned.
Parenthood follows the lives of the extended Braverman family in Northern California. The large ensemble cast includes Bonnie Bedelia, Joy Bryant, Tyree Brown, Max Burkholder, Erika Christensen, Lauren Graham, Miles Heizer, Sam Jaeger, Peter Krause, Xolo Mariduena, Craig T. Nelson, Monica Potter, Savannah Paige Rae, Dax Shepard, and Mae Whitman.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
1/30 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
For comparisons: The fifth season of Parenthood averaged a 1.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.98 million total viewers.
Note: Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Do you still like Parenthood TV series? Do you agree with the decision to end the series? Should there be a seventh season or is this the right time to end the show?
I AM SOOO SAD ABOUT THIS SHOW ENDING!!! I think it is one of the best shows ever!! I will miss it so much!
Thank you for the writers of this show and bringing to light the issues and challenges that most families face on a daily basis. Having a 14 year old son with Asperger’s Syndrome, it has helped me tremendously to watch Max, who is also the same age, and his parents’ journey. Please don’t end one of the most authentic and honest shows on tv!!! Please!!!!
This is one of the most realistic shows, addressing and embracing so many things that families go through. From autism, to infidelity, to bad relationships, to ptsd, to unplanned pregnancy and health issues. It is so great and one of the best shows on TV. It is funny, it is stressful, it is sad, it is happy and so so true. Hate to see this show being taken off the air. I think the low rating is what the show is up against – like how to get away with murder which is good but not very realistic. Maybe you… Read more »
I can not tell you how much I will miss this show. I have never miss 1 showing of this show. I am very upset that it is ending. This show is so true to life, and even made me cry and feel what they were feeling. Please do not cancel this show. I don’t think you really know how much it means to me, and some of the other followers who have watched this from the very beginning. I am very sad this is ending. Again, please don’t cancel, bring it back.
I just started watching last season and love the show. The characters are so well liked and the dialog is outstanding. Why let such a moving real life situational program end? So tired of all the fantasy and reality t.v.
My wife and I are very disappoited in the show ending. It is like what really happpens and one of the only ones we record on dvd. Dont stop it.
I just want to say I am a huge fan of the show. I am devastated that it is going off the air. A show that is well written and is based on family life lessons good and bad. A family show. It is so hard to find shows like this one anymore because everyone is into reality tv. I have a autistic nephew and he looks normal but in situations in life people are rude to him because he looks normal they think handicapped has to look a curtain way like being in a wheelchair or has to have… Read more »
Best cast. Best story line. Very unhappy it’s been cancelled. Maybe TNT will pick it up, like they so often do when a network drops a really great series.
Best show on tv and they have to cancel it. So ridiculously sad! Makes me ridiculously mad!
My sentiments exactly!
I agree. This show is one with family ups and downs . A wholesome show which is a rarity these days. I will miss it.
Totally agree!
Love the show. Save It!
I am so upset the show is ending. To me the show is one of the only shows that is more like situation that happen to real families in real life. I have enjoyed watching from the beginning and would love for it to continue.
So true
I have said it before but i think at this point it bears repeating: go the NBC wesite and tel them what you are telling on this site and maybe we will get some positive results. Can’t hurt to try anyway!!!
