As expected, NBC has pulled their low-rated new series, Persons Unknown, from the Monday night line-up. Thankfully they haven’t yanked it off the air completely. They’re just moving it to the Saturday night graveyard.
Persons Unknown revolves around a group of strangers who awaken in a ghost town and are unable to leave. The cast includes Chadwick Boseman, Lee Purcell, Jason Wiles, Andy Greenfield, Daisy Betts, Tina Holmes, Alan Ruck, Kate Lang Johnson, Sean O’Bryan, and Gerald Kyd.
The TV show has been performing very poorly so July 5th will be its last Monday night airing. Beginning July 17th, it will show up on NBC’s Saturday night schedule instead.
The Visa Gymnastics Championships will preempt the show on August 14th. Otherwise, it looks like Persons Unknown will run uninterrupted and conclude with episode 13 on September 4th. Producers have maintained that the final episode will properly wrap the series.

If by chance NBC pulls the low-rated show off the air before all of the episodes have aired, fans can take solace in the fact that they’re already scheduled to be released on DVD. Right now, the Persons Unknown: Season One set is scheduled for an August 31st release. That date may change now that NBC has altered their primetime schedule.
NBC has promoted Persons Unknown as a mini-series and, since it’s gotten poor ratings, there’s virtually no chance that it will return to the peacock network for another round.
However, the series was initially produced for international buyers and the studios could decide to make another season, presumably with a new mystery and group of people. The decision to call the forthcoming DVD set “season one” and not “the complete series” seems to support that possibility.
What do you think? Will you keep watching Persons Unknown or wait for the DVD release? Would you be interested in a second season?

I am CRAZY about this show!!!!!! I’m getting so sick of these networks getting you so involved in a show and then just yanking it off the air. I agree with everyone else. I will NOT buy this show on dvd just to find out what happens. This has happened to me so many times. If they pull this show off the air without showing all of the episodes, they will lose me as a viewer!!
I LOVE this show! Please don’t pull It! I don’t think It was never promoted enough!! I don’t think people know about It! Also don’t do the viewers such an injustice by starting a show with such an exciting and promising premise without having skilled writers to keep It going!! (save those for the soap operas) This show has the potential to be the next LOST !!
I think the show is great, at least its an original idea for a show actually makes you have to think about other peoples lives, and the secrets we all hold inside (without being to confused like in the show lost which was just how I felt). I like that each character is a mystery that you have to get involved in which creates depth in the show. I am sad they took it off Monday nights but am happy the series will at least finish.
It was on Saturday night at 8 PM. It scheduled to be on next Saturday as well. Best to check for it at 8 PM again.
If not for my dvr I would have missed the Saturday showing…I came here to find out what the heck it was doing on Saturday…though I kind of figured it was headed for the dustbin. Sad. Well that’s it for me on new network shows. The only new show that I watched this summer was Persons Unknown. I don’t intend to watch any new shows on the fall schedule.
I set my DVR to record Persons Unknown tonight ( Saturday) and when I went to watch I found that it was Law and Order : Criminal Intent instead. What a disappointment! Is Persons Unknown coming back or not? They got me hooked and took it away. Not fair.
I think it’s a great show! So glad I found out it was on Saturday. You know, some shows are advertised SO much and I have never seen Persons Unknown advertised. No wonder it has poor ratings…no one knows about it!
I was really enjoying the show! I would hate to see the series taken off the air, but I’ll watch it to the end even on Saturdays.
Last week couldn’t find at any time. I hate to start watching a show then they stop it or move it around so much you think it is off.
I am so tired of these networks pulling shows left and right. This is such a great show, something different. I am so anxious every week to see the next episode. Thank God for my Tivo because otherwise I would have missed it this Saturday. I completely agree with “Not Weasel”, I refuse to buy something for their mistakes. And yes it is their mistake because all these networks keep cancelling awesome shows because they don’t know how to promote them correctly. Anyways as long as they play out the rest of the season so I can finally find out… Read more »
I agree with NotWeasel. The show is a limited series, and if they don’t air all thirteen episodes I will be royally p.o.’d. and certainly won’t buy the DVD. It’s bad enough that they’re moving it constantly. The networks have no respect for their viewers. No wonder fewer people are watching every year.
Yes. Absolutely I would continue to watch. I did not know it had pulled from NBC’s Monday night lineup. I was so dissappointed when I tuned in on Monday night and it was not scheduled. I will watch the series until it’s over. I loved it!!
This is really getting annoying. I’ve really been enjoying this series, but NBC seems to be doing their best to lose me as a viewer. If they’re going to change the timeslot, they should mention that at the beginning of the episode. “BTW, if you intend to watch this again, tune in next week at our new time…” First, they changed the time so my PVR missed it. I happened to notice before it was too late to catch the time-shifted airing so I didn’t miss anything. Now, last night, I realize that I’ve missed it again… and can’t find… Read more »
Great show. Nice seeing a mystery with a lot of twists in it that keeps you wanting to come back to see what happens next. Second season? Bring it on!
You have got to be kidding this is a great show.I was looking forward to last nights show not knowing it was taken off until I researched it on here.I will glad to finally see it again on Saturday.
