NBC has been promoting Persons Unknown as a mini-series and that the show’s mysteries will be answered by the end. The show has not performed well in the ratings so hopefully the network will let all 13 episodes air.
If they do pull the series early, the show is scheduled to be put out on DVD. According to Amazon, it’s scheduled for an August 31st release but that’s likely to change because NBC won’t have aired all of the episodes until early September.
Some readers have noticed that the DVD set is titled Persons Unknown: The Complete First Season
Executive Producer Remi Aubuchon recently told Collider that, when they were shooting it, they did so believing it would be an on-going series. Though they wanted it to go on, he made sure that they answered all of the questions by the end of the first season, to make it a satisfying story for viewers.
Could there be another season? Aubuchon said, “It’s not unheard of, in the course of life, that if there’s enough interest in it, we could consider going a second season or doing another chapter. I keep looking at it as books in a series, and this season is the first book. I feel confident that we will have a beginning, middle and end, in this season, and it was wise of NBC to then call it what it really is, which is a mini-series.”
He continued, “24 is a really good example, in that there was a definitive beginning, middle and end for the first season. They had a slightly different format than we have, but the second season just retained Jack Bauer and a few other players, with the same basic format and idea, but it was a completely different show. I’m not saying that that’s exactly where we’re going, but certainly I think that there’s room for saying, ‘Hey, look, we told one story of a continuing saga.’ You should be able to pick this book up and get to the last line of the season and go, ‘Wow! Well, I hope there’s a second season, but at least I feel satisfied that I got to see all of this. They answered it all for me.”
Unfortunately, it looks unlikely that NBC would be interested in another season but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t return on another channel or in another form.

It’s amazing what you find on Netflix! I just watched the whole series of persons unknown without any breaks. The story is very exciting full of twists and whats nexts. And the way they ended it without a second series really left me with a sense of What Now?? I’m sure if NBC won’t do anything with it AMC with all its hit series would be a great network to pick it up. Come on guys you can’t leave us hanging like this!
I have to say that Persons Unknown is by far 1 of the BEST series I have watched in a long time. I was happy to see Jason Wiles back in a series after Third Watch wrapped up it’s final season. I found him to be an amazing asset to the cast & I think that his acting abilities have gotten stronger over the years. I found myself watching the Pilot on Netflix…. I hope there is a season two. We just watched season one on Netflix and really enjoyed it. There are a lot of story lins that could be continued in a second season. If NBC is not interested, maybe another network ????
I’m surprised I had never heard of Persons Unknown before. This is the most engaging series I have seen since Lost. After I watched the pilot episode on Netflix, I was compelled to keep watching. I’m not even slightly ashamed to say that it was like an obsession!! Please, bring it back for Level 2.

Just finished this amazing mini series. Never heard of it until Netflix. I would LOVE a season 2. Compelling show. There needs to be more of this nature anyways. Pleassssse. It was absolutely wonderful!
Persons Unknown should be continued. Otherwise there will be no reasons to tell your frends to watch season 1. Who would not continue if he had a good start? Or why you started at all…
It would be nice if another network would pick it up for a second season or if maybe they would make a movie to finish out the story……or even a book.
LOVED the first season!! When was this on TV?? I have never heard of it, but this was wonderful and I am dying to see more! Please bring it back! I was riveted and watched the whole season in two days. Better than Lost!

My wife and I just finished the First Season of Persons Unknown. I am disappointed to find that Season two is non-existant! I too was bored on NetFlix and decided to start watching it, low and behold could not stop (watched all 14 episodes in 3 days!) My wife is hard to impress with TV shows, but this one she was able to maintain interest. We are both extremely disappointed to find out the last air-date was in 2010, and this being 2012, the likelyhood of a second season is slim.
